NAKIVO ships Backup & Replication on a fixed quarterly Release Train.
As Release Manager, you own the release gate—not the development teams.
Your primary responsibility is ensuring that only features that have passed all required quality gates enter a release. Features that are not ready are deferred to the next Release Train. Release dates do not move.
This is a highly operational, hands-on role sitting at the intersection of QA, Engineering, Product, and Project Management.
You will work directly with Jira, QA reports, build status, regression results, release checklists, and readiness reviews every day.
Own the quarterly Release Train
- Maintain the release calendar
- Run release readiness meetings
- Coordinate feature cutoffs, merge windows, regression, code freeze, Beta and GA
- Keep release scope accurate throughout the cycle
Own release quality gates
You are responsible for deciding whether a feature is ready for release based on objective evidence.
This includes reviewing:
- QA sign-offs
- test execution status
- regression completion
- blocker defects
- build health
- upgrade validation
- release documentation
If a feature is not ready, you defer it to the next Release Train.
Track release readiness
- Maintain release dashboards
- Identify risks early
- Report release health to management
- Ensure every feature has a clear release status
Coordinate branch readiness
- Work with Engineering Leads on merge timing
- Coordinate code freezes
- Manage release exceptions and critical fixes
Lead Go/No-Go
- Run release readiness meetings
- Drive Beta and GA checklists
- Coordinate final release approval
- Lead post-release retrospectives
What we're looking for Required
- 5+ years in software release management, QA leadership, build/release engineering or technical program management
- Experience owning software releases for commercial software products
- Strong understanding of software QA processes
- Comfortable reviewing test execution, regression results, defect reports and release readiness yourself
- Experience enforcing release gates based on objective testing evidence
- Understanding of Git branching strategies, merge windows and code freeze
- Familiarity with CI/CD systems (Jenkins, TeamCity, GitLab CI or similar)
- Strong Jira skills
- Excellent stakeholder management
- Intermediate English
