Job Summary
The QA Supervisor is involved in all aspects of quality and safety including but not limited to audits, HACCP program evaluation, Supplies inventory and control, working with operations personnel on quality and food safety issues, inspecting incoming materials, may assist in resolving customer complaints, implementing policies and procedures and evaluating new equipment installation or repair.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinates quality assurance activities (e.g., audits, training, purchasing, etc.)
Provides technical assistance and training to QA personnel.
Monitors and verifies the HACCP adhering to policy and procedure
Conduct GMP and sanitation audits of operations and warehouse areas
Works closely with other departments on quality and food safety issues
Verifies operations control systems are functional and being followed
Takes initiative on releasing or disposition as necessary for products on hold while adhering to policy and procedure
Coordinates investigation of customer complaints as necessary
Ensures SPC Management practices are followed
Completes analytical reviews of product
Regular and reliable transportation and attendance.
Any other duty assigned by management.
Education and Experience
BS Degree in Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Science, or other related degree preferred.
Education may be substituted for years of experience.
3-5 years related experience required preferably in the food industry.
Complete understanding of Food Safety Guidelines/Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and safe practices and procedures.
Complete understanding of HACCP Plans.
Understanding of government regulations (FDA, USDA).
Must be able to work in a facility that processes food allergens.
Skills and Abilities
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English.
Ability to prioritize and manage tasks.
Proficient computer skills.
Ability to read measurements.
Must have strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work efficiently under stressful situations.
Must be able to use a computer and associated software programs.
Perform all tasks safely to ensure achievement of quality, service, and cost objectives.
Ability to read equipment operations manuals.
Ability to participate in job development training (i.e., troubleshooting, etc.).
Working Environment and Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to fingers; handle; and feel; reach with hands and arms; climb; balance; stoop; kneel; crouch; or crawl; and talk and hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision; distance vision; peripheral vision; and ability to adjust focus. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Must be willing and able to wear approved PPE as specified by GMP standards. The employees are regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts and high, precarious places; extreme heat and cold. While employee is performing regular duties they are also exposed to possible risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
