Quality Assurance Manager

Thermatron, founded in 1994, is a privately owned small, dynamic, internationally-recognized manufacturer business located in Methuen, Massachusetts. We currently seek an exceptional individual to lead our Quality Assurance and Safety Departments.

The successful candidate will be energetic and self-motivated. The candidate will contribute as a “player-coach” through all aspects of quality planning and inspection. The candidate will be a key staff member responsible for improving technical discipline in an otherwise relaxed manufacturing environment, and will work with colleagues at all company levels, as well as suppliers and clients.
Position Summary:
The Quality Assurance Manager coordinates the activities required to meet quality standards, and is responsible to ensure that the product and service provided meets both the specification and customer expectations. The Quality Assurance Manager will work with other managers and staff throughout the organization to ensure that the Quality Management, Inspection and Safety Systems are functioning properly. He/she will strive to continuously improve these areas, as opportunities are identified.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Fully maintain and continuously improve a QMS consistent with the latest revisions of ISO 9001, acting as the Subject Matter Expert.
Overall responsibility to assure the quality of outgoing products.
Establish and prepare quality metrics monitoring performance by gathering relevant data and producing statistical reports to advise on the performance of the quality management system.
Develop, describe, and implement corrective actions when necessary, including direct written/verbal communications with clients (8D Process).
Conduct product testing and failure analysis by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends including failed processes, capability studies, recalls, and corrective actions (8D Process).
Maintains and improves product quality by completing product, company, system, compliance, and surveillance audits; investigating customer complaints; collaborating with other members of management to insure customer expectations are always considered.
Oversee and manage Quality Control Auditors, Engineers and Inspectors, monitor day to day activities and accomplishments.
Recommend strategies and tactics to improve QC inspection methods.
Lead and monitor the company Safety Program.
Qualifications and Skills:
BS degree in Engineering or Science.
Minimum 5 years Quality Operations experience in a manufacturing environment.
Superior communication, interpersonal and verbal skills required to interact effectively with all customers, employees and outside vendors, etc.
Excellent mechanical aptitude. Knowledge of production machinery/process is a strong plus, including stamping, forming, machining, welding, brazing, mechanical assembly, and finish.
Experience with drawing interpretation, tolerance, and precision measuring.
ISO9001 knowledge and experience.
Experience with Safety Programs in a manufacturing environment.
Computer literate.
ASQ, CMQ/OE, CQE OR CQA a plus.
CMM experience a plus.
