Aerospace Quality Control Inspector Jobs in Bristol, CT at Metal Finishing Technologies LLC
The Aerospace Quality Control Inspector will ensure that a quality product is delivered to clients by performing inspection requirements in a timely fashion, inspect processed parts for defects and conformance to specifications, perform tests and maintain records required by the quality program. The Inspector will also assist with preparing, printing, and circulating MFT work orders and review completed work orders for accuracy. Position may eventually transform into a split shift position, supporting both first and second shifts depending on production needs. Adequate training will be provided. *Due to the nature of the supported department, the candidate will be subject to pre-employment drug testing, in compliance with the federal regulations of the FAA.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- A motivated, highly driven self-starter
- Must have prior experience in Quality Inspection in a manufacturing environment. Aerospace Quality Inspection experience preferred
- Must be able to pass Inspector Eye Exam requirements: 20/25 (Snellen) or Jaeger No. 1) in at least one eye either corrected or uncorrected.
- Must be able to operate with minimum supervision in order to support second shift when necessary
- Must be attentive to details and have the ability to follow instructions
- Must be familiar in the use of with Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, etc.
- Team player that can interact at all levels of the organization
- Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs.
- Prior experience regarding AS9100/ISO9001, NADCAP Chem-processing, and FAA Part-145 Repair Station regulations preferred
Essential QC Duties:
- Develop a thorough understanding of ISO 9001 or AS 9100 Rev D (QMS) and FAA 14 CFR Part 145/ EASA Part 145 requirements.
- Perform preliminary, in-process and final inspections in a timely manner to help ensure that PDD’s are met.
- Handle and inspect flight critical parts per customer, internal and FAA requirements. Identify non-conforming conditions promptly and assist with investigation.
- Aid production personnel with questions and concerns regarding quality and order requirements.
- Perform line audits and spot checks as required. Review preventative maintenance records and ensure consistency with line and equipment logs.
- Maintain testing equipment and records as required.
- Verify conformance to dimensional requirements with the use of micrometer, caliper, microscope, thread/ring/pin gauges, XRF, eddy current and other measuring devices as required.
- Perform other quality acceptance test and visual examinations as required by customer specifications.
- Prepare test coupons and associated documentation.
- Notify the Director of Quality directly of any/all rejected lots.
- Prepare customer certifications and shipping documents as required.
- Assist in packaging and handling customer hardware prior to shipment per customer and internal requirements.
- Ensure customer orders are inspected, and documentation is complete in a timely manner to ensure deliveries are not delayed
- Learn how to use, standardize, calibrate, and read various types of XRF & ETC thickness measurement equipment
- Learn to implement various inspection and sampling plans as required by the customer
- Assist with internal and external RCCA investigations as necessary
- Must be familiar and comply with all safety requirements.

Other Duties:
- Contact customers to resolve discrepancies in paperwork or for clarification of information related to order processing as required.
- File records and/or file copies of each work order received, according to company procedures, and route the original copy to the shop.
- Assist production and shipping with expedite/order status inquiries (written and verbal) and serve as a backup when needed.
- Become familiar with the ERP system and learn to generate job order packages for order entry.
- Must be open to cross-training and professional development.
