Position Overview
- This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity supporting the manufacturing of air and space-based RF systems within Aerospace and Defense Severn Operations.
- The position will work closely with the Engineering and Manufacturing teams to support prototype builds, New Product Integration (NPI), and production builds.
- The Receiving Quality Inspector will inspect purchased parts and materials to ensure they conform to engineering specifications, drawings, company standards, and applicable quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect purchased parts and materials for conformance to specifications and requirements.
- Examine electronic components, including: Bare circuit boards, COTS (Commercial Off-the-Shelf) items and Parts and materials fabricated to internal engineering drawings
- Inspect materials for defects, workmanship issues, and damage that may have occurred during transit.
- Measure and inspect items for dimensional accuracy, fit, alignment, and functional operation using applicable drawings, parts manuals, company standards, and other specifications.
- Review supplier certifications, packing slips, test reports, and related documentation to ensure compliance with Aerospace and Defense flow-down requirements.
- Identify, label, document, and disposition defective, damaged, or non-conforming materials in accordance with established procedures.
- Provide direct Quality Assurance ownership and oversight of Receiving Inspection laboratory activities.
- Participate in regular Material Review Board (MRB) activities to ensure non-conforming materials and processes are appropriately evaluated and handled.
- Maintain accurate inspection records and documentation.
- Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Suppliers, and other Quality organizations to resolve inspection and material-related issues.
Basic Qualifications
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
- 5+ years of Quality Assurance experience in a Receiving Inspection environment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and blueprints.
- Working knowledge of the AS9100 quality management standard and ability to support internal and external audits as required.
- Proficiency using precision measurement equipment, including calipers, micrometers, and similar inspection tools.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately identify defects and maintain inspection records.
- Strong working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems.
- A High School Diploma is required; a STEM-related educational background is preferred.
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience supporting Aerospace, NASA, and/or FAA programs.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
- Ability to adjust level of effort based on customer requirements and expectations.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Experience working with electronic components, RF-related hardware, or complex aerospace/defense manufacturing products.
