Job Context & Major Challenges
Job Context: Alupuram Works has capacity to produce and sells over 13800 tons per annum of Aluminium Extrusions and caters to a wide spectrum of end uses covering applications in Architectural (10%), Industrial (15%), Electrical (10%), Transport (50%), Consumer Durables (5 %), Defence (10%) segments. Today Alupuram has over 700 customers and produces over 7000 different profiles (in the extrusion presses) in over 30 alloys (which are cast at Alupuram Cast House). Extrusion Manufacturers are fiercely competing in their own niche markets, often denying entry into some segments. It is by maintaining the proper quality of products that Alupuram Works can remain competitive in the market. Meeting expectations and requirements of customers with the limitation of having old technology and outdated equipment. From alupuram we started focusing more to increase Aerospace and defense segment supplies which needs special process controls, furnace controls and lab testing facilities including AS9100 and NADCAP certification. Also Increasing in percentage share of transport segment increased the challenge in customer focus, certification, and high demand of customer service
Job Challenges
Alupuram started focusing on Aerospace product qualification and this will bring lot of challenges to develop the Laboratory testing requirements and documentation needs of aerospace and automotive segment for various tests like micro analysis of extruded products as well as billet quality analysis. since these facilities are not available at Alupuram Lab so it will be a challenge to setting up the facilities as well as spreading the knowledge of billet quality and defect characterization through micro analysis.
As Alupuram has capacity to produce 1000 MT of material and it is increasing further more so it will be a major challenge to maintain the lab with NABL standards and provide all the test as per standards and clearing the material on time.
Also understanding the new value addition demands (powder coating) and implementing all the lab test for powder coating material like DFT test, Bend test, impact test, cross adhesion test and wet adhesion with quality standards.

KRA1 ISO 9001:2015, 14001:2015, 45001:2015 , NABL and AS9100 systems. Management representative for IMS, AS9100, NABL systems. Coordinate with plant team and progress on continual improvement plans. Ensure no gaps in the system and no major NCR’s in audits. Also work closely with certification bodies and ensure upgrading of QMS, EMS, OHASAS system as per relevant standard requirements.
KRA2 Customer Interface Visit to Customers for understanding customer perceptions. Understand Customer process and applications. Provide inputs for developing customer specific practices. Develop / modify products based on customer inputs. Develop new products, markets based on customer requirements, applications etc. Analyze customer complaints implement systematic action plan to avoid the repetition of complaints
KRA3 NPD & Expand market in Aerospace, defense segments Metallurgical Analysis & Inputs. Furnish metallurgical inputs in the development of new profiles / products as a requirement to increase market share and profitability. Provide metallurgical inputs for the development and heat treatment of new alloys. Coordinate metallurgical analysis of billets or extruded products to meet customer requirements.
Coordinate new product / customer development in Aerospace and Defense market and align the plant quality system inline with customer demand to ensure the product quality to meet the high-end requirements.
KRA4 Handling customer and third-party inspections To handle all customer and third-party inspection and ensure the testing standards are followed as per specification.
KRA5 Upgradation of testing lab and development of testing personal To upgrade the testing lab and development of testing personal to meet NABL and NADCAP requirements
