Summary of Key Objectives
Designs and executes tests on technology product usability, reporting effectiveness and defects to development team. Demonstrates basic to intermediate level product knowledge and skills.
Description of Key Responsibilities
Designs, creates, and executes both manual and automated cases per technical specifications for testing integrated applications and software products.
Reports defects in the defect tracking system when test cases or functionality fail.
Communicates steps and outcome of test case execution upon opening a defect in the defect tracking system.
Monitors assigned defects for additional information or retesting.
Closes defects in the defect tracking system when defects are corrected and meet the stated requirement.
Tracks test plan, defect and turnaround time data which contributes to QA monthly and annual metric results.
Recommends suggestions and improvements in testing processes and procedures.
Completes all tasks assigned in the test planning phase of products, enhancements, or projects; including estimation of QA hours.
Participates in project meetings to review project requirements, use cases, and test planning activities.
Creates test data and test cases for testing directly with Federal and State Agencies.
Communicates with Federal and State Agencies on testing issues.
Works with programming and other teams on changes and updates to programs, operations and processing procedures and systems.
Assists with Tier I technical support when needed.
Troubleshoots issues and communicates correct system behavior to Partners, Agencies, and/or Tier I support.
Participates in project and product meetings as needed.
Meets and exceeds department quality standards for escalated support and testing duties.
Onboard new team members and trains on product of proficiency.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
One or more years of Software Quality Assurance experience, both web and desktop.
Certified Tester Foundation Level (CTFL)
Intermediate knowledge of standards and methodologies of software and cloud software quality assurance, including:
Creation, maintenance and execution of test plans.
Creation and use of effective automated tests.
Understanding of software development life cycle, software testing life cycle, SCRUM project management and Software Testing Body of Knowledge (STBOK).
Intermediate competency with the following: XML, JSON, PDF, Javascript/Typescript, Python, Postman, JMeter, Azure DevOps
Position Travel Requirements
No travel required.
Typical Work Schedule
Normal business hours Monday through Friday.
FLSA Status
Non-exempt position: eligible for overtime pay.
Peak Work Time Requirements
Position typically requires 40 – 45 hours a week. Peak work times include November through January, when additional hours are required.
Working Conditions
General office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require standing and walking for up to 10% of the time. The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment.
Scope of Accountability
No supervisory responsibility.
