As the Assistant Manager – Laboratory at Sunway Medical Centre Velocity, you will play a vital role in leading, promoting teamwork, provide coaching and assisting in managing the Laboratory Department team. This full-time position is based in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur and offers the opportunity to contribute to the strategic objectives of this progressive healthcare organisation.
What you’ll be doing
Delivering safe and efficient operation and quality services to customers.
Collaborating with the Laboratory Manager to maintain the financial sustainability of the Laboratory Department by ensuring expenditures remain within budget.
Establishing service standards by leveraging knowledge of patient and customer expectations, as well as industry best practices.
Ensuring accurate and prompt test result reporting to clinicians while addressing analytical challenges related to equipment, methodologies, and specimen collection that may impact patient safety.
Promoting a safe and healthy laboratory environment by working with the Laboratory Manager to develop and implement safety procedures in compliance with regulatory and statutory requirements (e.g.: MS ISO15189, MSQH and ACHS standards).
Upholding professionalism and ethical standards by maintaining impartiality, ensuring confidentiality, and adhering to PDPA guidelines when handling official information.
Engaging with stakeholder to understand their needs and collaboratively to develop services within the department.
Continuously enhancing personal, technical, and managerial competencies by attending relevant courses, meetings, and conferences while maintaining an updated personal development plan and professional portfolio.
Requirements
Bachelor of Science Degree or Bachelor of Biomedical Science Degree or an equivalent in a relevant field, recognized by the Government of Malaysia.
Minimum 10 years of working experience as a practicing medical laboratory scientist with up to 5 years at an increasingly responsible management level position in laboratory operations in a hospital.
Possess sufficient technical and clinical knowledge in order to release results. Ability to interpret and validate results, able to work closely with the subordinates
Familiar with quality control and quality assurance procedures
Working knowledge of healthcare and related acts, regulations and accreditation standards i.e. MS ISO 15189, MSQH, JCI and ACHS.
Excellent communications skills, compassionate
Conscientious, responsible, careful, cooperative, and reliable with good interpersonal skill.
Demonstrate high initiative and work independently towards achieving goals and objectives competently.
