Quality Assurance Technician

Job Classification: Hourly

Reports to: Quality Assurance Manager

The Quality Technician performs routine daily tasks that ensure the products manufactured meet food safety, regulatory and quality requirements. Various tests are performed, and results are recorded and reported daily. This position offers a wide variety of interaction with all members of the plant team and exposure to the entire manufacturing process.

Essential Functions

Perform Inspections including Pre-Operational and Food Safety document and communicate results.

Perform Daily Operating Inspections as needed to assure compliance with GMPs and USDA requirements.

Perform Metal Detector Record Checks inform Supervisor of deficiencies.

Calibrate Test equipment such as Scales, pH meter, Thermometers, Metal Detector, etc.

Perform pre-start-up and changeover verifications and documentation.

Maintain accurate and organized records of QA activities.

Monitor HACCP Critical Control Point.

Perform Quality Audits as required.

Perform in-bound raw and packaging material checks to ensure customer requirements are met.

Liaison with USDA.

Report and Follow-Up on Food Safety and Food Quality concerns.

Follows all Food Safety PPE/GMP requirements and reports any concerns in the plant.

Basic Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.

Desired Qualifications

Previous experience in food manufacturing environment is a plus.

Competencies

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written required.

Ability to interact and to manage conflict in stressful situations while maintaining composure and perspective.

Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office; Word and Excel

Ability to work cooperatively and maintain a professional working relationship with employees.

Ability to read and understand formula and specification sheets.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and power industrial trucks. The employee is frequently exposed to cold and wet conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
