The Quality Specialist will ensure that all products meet internal quality standards and regulatory requirements. This role involves managing quality systems, collaborating with third-party manufacturers, and supporting cross-functional initiatives to uphold product integrity and consumer safety and driving continuous improvement across the organization.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform inspections and quality testing on finished products to verify compliance with specifications and standards.
Manage the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and Quality Management System (QMS), including product data, document control, deviations, CAPAs, and SCARs.
Maintain and update quality documentation, such as standard operating procedures (SOPs), inspection records, and quality reports.
Investigate product quality issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Support the training of staff on quality procedures, standards, and regulatory requirements.
Collaborate with Third-Party Manufacturers (TPMs) and suppliers to ensure products meet quality and regulatory standards.
Collect, analyze, and report on quality metrics to identify trends and recommend improvements.
Participate in internal and external audits and assist in preparing audit responses and corrective action plans.
Work closely with innovation, project management, and supply chain teams to ensure quality considerations are integrated into product development and operations.
Monitor and ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations, including ISO 9001, GMP, and FDA requirements.
Requirements:
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Proficiency in quality tools and software systems (PLM/QMS), especially with Propel or Sales Force software.
Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Any general lab experience in industry or education.
Experience working with “remote” TPMs and suppliers is a plus.
Good written and verbal communication skills
Documentation and reporting skills
Good team player who can work efficiently with minimal supervision.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in Quality Assurance, Cosmetic Science, Chemistry, Engineering or equivalent experience
2+ years of experience in quality assurance within the personal care, cosmetics, or related consumer goods industry is preferred.
Familiarity with GMP, FDA regulations, and ISO standards applicable to personal care products is preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs, conduct incoming inspections in the warehouse, and be willing stand for long periods of time.
