Job Title: Supplier Quality Engineer

FLSA Status: Exempt

Reports To: VP of Supply Chain

SUMMARY:

The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is the main point of contact between ESL and its vendors. The SQE is responsible for ensuring ESL’s vendor network is supporting our strategy by delivering high quality services and products on time, with high quality and at a competitive price.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for driving ESL’s brand with our vendors. Including setting clear expectations, core values, and supplier performance feedback. Be the ambassador for our company with our suppliers.
Understand and communicate to ESL management what are the decision drivers for ESL vendors regarding product allocation, service and support priorities and pricing. Be the liaison between ESL and its suppliers.
Perform supplier audits of the operation process using inspection results and statistical techniques to provide timely, accurate process and product analysis. Issues and performs root cause analysis initiatives for process related concerns associated with Supplier performance. Trains & Mentors suppliers on RCCA activities. This position will require approximately 30% travel.
Finding alternative components and/or alternatives suppliers for hard-to-get critical components. Participate in and communicate status of each of these parts in our “Critical Components Meeting”.
Maintains vendor database and updates it regularly, preparing reports to Exec Team regarding vendor performance. Manages the supplier scorecard process and works with struggling vendors to improve.
Finding and pre-qualifying potential new outsourcing partners/suppliers.
Provides recommendations on Make/Buy decisions: what components make sense to manufacture in house or outsourced based on cost.
Maintains healthy business relationships with vendors and builds new supplier relationships.
Maintain relationships with vendors, suppliers and distributors (key suppliers for ESL) making sure they keep a reasonable stock level and add value
Monitor KPI’s anticipating and correcting trends which would compromise achievement of targets
Understand, support and follow management expectations in alignment with company values

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bilingual in English/Spanish highly preferred
Extensive knowledge of industry is a bonus
Advanced knowledge of business and management principles involved in planning, resource allocation, cost analysis and budgeting,
Must be able to effectively multi-task and problem solve in a fast-paced environment and the ability to manage, motivate, and train others to achieve required goals
Epicor experience is a bonus.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills; is accessible and approachable
Exceptional organizational skills including the ability to prioritize workload to meet deadline
Experience using Microsoft Office, including the ability to create basic reports, documents, presentations and spreadsheets in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint
High level of Excel is required (Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.)

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or supply chain management highly preferred (equivalent work experience will be considered) with a minimum of three (3) years (Preferable 5 years) of Quality or Manufacturing Engineering experience demonstrating a progression of increased scope and responsibility in a manufacturing environment. Equivalent work experience will be considered.
