SUMMARY: Under direction, performs mammography procedures al a level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail and within established departmental policies and procedures. Performs related duties as required.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: NOTE: The following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual in the classification.
1. Assists In establishing department protocols.
2. Assists In training new mammographers and students.
3. Attends meetings Involving breast health as requested.
4. Contacts patients for follow-up or additional radiographic films or exams.
5. Maintains compliance with the Mammography Quality Standards Act or 1992 (MQSA) through record keeping and reporting, Including: performing all frequency-sensitive QA tests as prescribed by the MOSA, performing medical audit of Radiologist. reviewing all mammography and pathology reports. generating, reviewing. and mailing result letters to patients and referring clinicians, preparing the mammography department for all inspections by the State of California and the American College of Radiology (ACR), and compiling and maintaining statistics necessary for accreditation of the facility.
6. Maintains department equipment and supplies as necessary.
7. Performs a variety of technical procedures that require Independent Judgment with ingenuity and Initiative.
8. Performs appropriate radiographic procedures for medical diagnosis.
9. Practices established radiation protection standards.
10. Schedules patients for and assists Radiologist In biopsy procedures including Imaging of breast specimens as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Experience: Five years’ experience as mammography technologist.
Required Licenses/Certifications: BLS -Basic Life Support Certification – Issued by AHA-American Heart Association.
Required Licenses/Certifications: Possess a valid current certificate as a Radiologic Technologist issued by the State of California.
Preferred Licenses/Certifications: Valid and current certification In Mammography issued by the California Stale Department of Health Services, Radiologic Health Branch.
Licenses/Certifications: ARRT (R) and ARRT (M)
Pay Range: $59.45 – $78.34 / Hour
The pay range for this position reflects the base pay scale for the role at Alameda Health System. Final compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, departmental equity, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and the operational needs of the organization.
