The Opportunity
As our Product Quality Engineer, you’ll ensure the quality of our CRL Hardware products to consistently exceed our requirements and customer expectations. You will be at the intersection of innovation and compliance, developing and implementing quality control systems into our hardware manufacturing supply chain and new product development process, to enable design that can support mass production, with highly decorative, functional and dimensional quality. This role offers the perfect blend of technical expertise, creative problem-solving, and strategic thinking.

What You’ll Do

Drive Product Excellence – Define, develop, document, implement and maintain a Product Quality Plan (PQP) establishing quality protocols that ensure consistent, high-performing hardware products
Lead New Product Development (NPD)
Serve as the quality cornerstone on NPD teams, establishing test procedures and compliance pathways
Champion Industry Standards
Apply your expertise in ANSI/BHMA, ASTM, UL, and building code requirements to guarantee product compliance. Leading the specification review and settings with cross functional partners.
Assessing, selecting and collaborating with suppliers while ensuring adherence to quality standards and specific product quality plans.
Analyze test data using statistical methods to identify issues and ensure compliance.
Analyze and resolve product quality issues impacting manufacturing, supply chain or in the field using quality tools and metrics, as well as failure analysis techniques.
Build Quality Culture – Collaborate across departments to foster commitments to quality at all levels
Optimize Packaging Systems – Ensure packaging meets ISTA/ASTM standards while balancing protection, sustainability, and regulatory requirements

What You’ll Need

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or related technical field
5+ years of quality engineering experience, preferably in building products or hardware
Demonstrated knowledge of quality management systems and improvement methodologies
Practical understanding of industry standards (ANSI/BHMA, ASTM, UL) and building codes
Experience with quality tools, testing equipment, measurement systems, and statistical analysis
Exceptional problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail
Strong communication abilities to influence across all organizational levels
Experience working with minimal guidance

What Sets You Apart

Professional certifications (CQE, CQA, Six Sigma)
Experience with product safety certification processes (UL, ETL, CSA)
Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles
Familiarity with CAD software and design review processes

Location:
Los Angeles, California, with occasional travel to supplier locations and industry events (approximately 15%)

Salary: 114,600 – $143,000
