Position Overview:
Responsible for establishing and maintaining Quality processes within the supply base. This includes; monitoring supplier’s status, collecting and analyzing their performance data; developing work instructions and forms ensuring control and continuous improvement of our supplier’s quality; manage nonconformities and follow up on corrective actions; auditing existing suppliers; and qualifying/auditing new suppliers.
Job Responsibilities:
Provides service to ALL internal and external customers
Provides Supplier Quality Engineering consultation to QC, testing, engineering, supply chain, purchasing, materials management, manufacturing, and project management personnel
Communicates quality and performance requirements and expectations clearly to supply base and ensures that they are understood and adhered to.
Validates supplier production processes prior to production or at initial run-off
Effectively reviews, analyzes, and audits supplier QPs and ITPs
Leads continuous process improvement teams at the Houston campus as well as at supplier locations
Mentors cross-functional teams in the application of methodical problem-solving processes at the Houston campus as well as at supplier locations
Works with Supply Chain to Develop, maintain, and effectively communicate Supplier metrics, both internally and to supply base
Quantifies, consolidates, and analyzes Supplier data and metrics
Skills and Abilities:
Familiar with the requirements of ISO9001 & API Q1 and/or similar standards
Familiar with castings, forgings, welding, heat treatment, machining, assembly, painting, pressure testing and NDE
Familiar with QE tools, SPC, FMEA and MSA
Good command of English, reading, writing, and spoken
Skilled in PC Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Outlook, etc.)
Good communication and coordination skills, patient and detail-oriented characteristics. Need to communicate effectively with suppliers, engineers, manufacturing personnel and peers in a dynamic team environment
Excellent written, verbal, analytical, negotiating, and interpersonal skills
High ethical standards
Core Qualifications:
Accredited 4-year college degree preferred
Minimum 3 years’ working experience in a Quality Engineering capacity within a manufacturing environment, international experience preferred
Auditor / Lead Auditor Certification Preferred (or previous 2-year documented performance history)
