Position Overview
This entry-level role involves industrial radiographic test inspection as a Boundary Monitor. The primary responsibility is to prevent unauthorized access to radiography restricted areas during operations and verify radiation measurements at the boundary in coordination with the Radiographer-in-Charge (RIC).
Responsibilities
Secure, monitor, and survey work areas during radiographic testing
Work in confined spaces, at heights, and in various weather conditions, including lifting up to fifty pounds, climbing, and stooping
Demonstrate understanding of Electric Boat procedures
Shift and Location
This is a third-shift position based at the Quonset Point facility in North Kingstown, RI.
Qualifications
Required:
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Ability to work all shifts, at heights, in confined spaces, and extreme temperatures
Ability to interpret shipyard procedures
Basic math skills
Possession of basic hand tools (if required)
Successful completion of pre-employment radiation physical and 80-hour Radiation Safety training
Ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance from the Department of Defense
Preferred:
Experience in commercial, military/navy radiography or shipbuilding
Experience in NDT
Vocational, technical, community college, or apprenticeship training
Skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment to meet organizational goals
Physical and Environmental Requirements
Physical:
Climbing, color vision, crawling, heavy and light lifting, kneeling, reaching, pulling, pushing, stooping, twisting.
Environmental:
Exposure to acids or alkalis, cold, dry, dusty, fumes, hot, noisy, oily, outside, wet conditions.
