Role Overview
Client is seeking a combined Business Analyst & QA Engineer to own requirements definition and quality assurance for a bank-fintech integration program. This individual translates complex source documents — sponsor bank requirements, payment flow specifications, exception handling protocols, and banking regulatory guidelines — into user stories with precise acceptance criteria before each sprint begins. They then own SIT execution, lead UAT with fintech partner stakeholders, and maintain the regression suite that protects platform integrity as new components are added.
Why This Role Matters
In a regulated banking program, ambiguous requirements and untested edge cases are not just software defects — they are potential compliance violations. A misdirected ACH disbursement, a missed sanctions screening match, or an internal transfer that processes twice are the exact scenarios that appear in bank examination findings. The BA/QA on this program is the person who ensures none of those scenarios reach production.
What You Will Do
- Translate all source documentation — sponsor bank functional requirements, payment flow specifications, exception handling protocols, and regulatory guidelines — into user stories with clear, testable acceptance criteria before each sprint planning session
- Author complete test case suites for every feature: happy path, negative cases, edge cases, exception handling scenarios, and compliance-specific test cases covering sanctions hits, regulatory file failures, internal transfer failures, and reconciliation imbalances
- Lead System Integration Testing (SIT): deploy to staging environment, execute all test cases, manage defect triage with defined SLA for Critical severity, and produce a formal test summary report before UAT begins
- Facilitate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with fintech partner stakeholders — no production deployment occurs without a signed UAT acceptance letter
- Maintain and expand the automated regression suite as new integration components are added to the platform
- Document functional specifications for all compliance-critical workflows: sanctions screening, regulatory record-keeping pipelines, end-of-day reconciliation, internal transfer idempotency, and dual-authorization controls
- Deliver the final test summary report to bank technology leadership within 48 hours of SIT completion
What You Bring (Required)
- 5+ years in a combined BA/QA or dedicated QA role on complex integration programs — not test management alone, but active test case authoring, execution, and defect ownership
- Experience writing user stories and acceptance criteria for payment system or banking infrastructure integrations
- Ability to design test cases for compliance-critical scenarios: sanctions screening hits, failed payment transactions, reconciliation mismatches, concurrent duplicate submission attempts
- Hands-on SIT and UAT execution experience including defect management under deadline pressure
- Strong written communication — test plans, acceptance criteria, defect reports, and UAT facilitation materials written for both technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience managing defect triage with engineering teams under fixed delivery timelines
Nice to Have
- Prior experience on bank technology programs or fintech payment integration engagements
- Familiarity with ACH, FedNow, RTP, or wire payment workflows and their failure modes
- Experience with API testing tools such as Postman, RestAssured, or Karate
- ISTQB certification or equivalent structured QA methodology training
