Summary
Our client is seeking an intermediate-level Business Analyst to work closely with business clients and other members of the IT Solutions Delivery Team in an iterative, Agile software development environment to define, clarify, and prioritize requirements; configure packaged software products; test software; and help resolve defects. This may include modifying graphical user interfaces and application workflows; writing SQL queries and updates (from basic to advanced, e.g., joins); designing, writing, and troubleshooting package-specific reports; and troubleshooting and adjusting job/process scheduling/sequencing. This position will also serve as a technical subject-matter expert for supported applications and assist with training end users on developed applications.
Responsibilities
- Play a primary role in identifying and managing business and system requirements through the project lifecycle and across single or multiple systems.
- Prepare test plans, scenarios, and test data, then execute a variety of manual and/or automated test types.
- Configure packaged software products to meet business and system requirements.
- Work with packaged software product vendors to troubleshoot, tune, and manage software environments.
- Assist with installing packaged software products in test and production environments.
- Participate in upgrades and support for packaged software products.
- Identify, document, track, and assist in resolving defects across all testing stages.
- Work with the project team to provide accurate estimates and prioritize project work.
- Report on project progress.
- Actively participate in process improvement initiatives.
- Assist users in resolving production problems and train them in system operations.
- Identify opportunities to improve the requirement gathering and testing process.
- Continuously expand skillset by learning new techniques, then share this knowledge and experience with other members of the IT Solutions Delivery Team and clients.
- Protect business records created or used in business processes to ensure availability, confidentiality, integrity, and the retention and destruction of records as specified by relevant policies.
- Provide support for regulatory reporting; work with other departments to implement effective policies and procedures that comply with applicable statutes and regulations.
- Consistently act in alignment with company values.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent work experience.
- 3-5 years of related professional experience in business analysis, quality assurance, or both.
- Intermediate understanding of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Resourcefulness and creativity when researching new products and techniques.
- Comfortable working with some uncertainty in a fast-paced environment; ability to balance multiple tasks, priorities, and deadlines.
- Willingness to adapt to changing business and technical environments.
- Ability to multitask, problem-solve, attend to details, prioritize, and maintain concentrated mental and visual attention for sustained periods.
- Must be able to work and travel independently and use general office equipment.
- Must be goal-oriented and have a strong sense of team solidarity.
- Preferred
- 2-3 years of experience (education and hands-on work) in Finance.
- Familiarity with some combination of database design, programming concepts, and Web development.
