Chief Inspector

Location:
Calgary, Canada

Reporting to the Team Lead, Operational Integrity the Chief Inspector is responsible for the generation, implementation and management of all pressure equipment integrity and inspection programs. The Chief Inspector is also responsible to ensure regulatory compliance is maintained with the local regulatory body in charge of pressure equipment (ABSA for Alberta).

Issues and maintain owner user program registered with ABSA for the integrity of all the pressure equipment in the province of Alberta. Ensures that all stakeholders comply with their roles and responsibilities by running periodic internal audits

Keeps abreast on upcoming changes to regulations, codes and standards

Provides technical guidance to facilities engineering, operations and maintenance groups to ensure integrity is maintained during the lifecycle of pressure equipment

Ensures all operating equipment is properly inspected as per integrity threads keeping in mind regulatory requirements

Coordinates contractor inspection resources based on inspection frequencies and operations requests

Reviews non-destructive testing results and provides guidance for repairs, alterations of pressure equipment as required

Analyze trends of integrity records, determines corrosion rates and remaining service life of pressure equipment in order to provide recommendations for future inspection, repair or replacement

Provides technical support in regards to quality assurance, quality control of equipment fabrication, alteration, and repair to ensure compliance with engineering specifications, drawings, applicable codes, standards, jurisdictional and our client’s requirements

Advises on changes to operating conditions that could affect the expected life or mechanical integrity of pressure equipment

Actively supports turnarounds and outages with the expected work commitment

Participates in process safety activities as required in order to better understand over pressure protection methods used by the organization. Reviews MOC initiatives as required and provides guidance for approval and potential compliance issues

Helps prepare periodic and regular regulatory inspections by interacting with all pressure equipment integrity stakeholders. Follows up on findings from audits to ensure they are completed prior to committed deadlines

Mentor and train field-based integrity/maintenance personnel on pressure equipment integrity related issues

Travels to the field to participate in integrity inspections, audits, repairs or regulatory meetings as required

Related industrial experience, with a P.Eng., or C.E.T. designation in Corrosion, Chemical, Petroleum, Mechanical or Metallurgical and Materials Engineering / Technology

Minimum of ten years of experience in the inspection/integrity of pressure equipment and piping systems. API , API and Alberta in-service inspector certifications required

Working knowledge of applicable jurisdictional regulations and standards (ASME, API, AER, CSA)

Valid Alberta In-service Pressure Vessel Inspector Certificate

Experience and certification on welding inspection is a plus

Proficient user of Maximo, Maxi Trak, Accumap and Synergi

Organized, team player and disciplined individual sith strong communication and leadership skills.

Safety conscious person able to influence the right behaviors on peers
