Position Overview
Reporting to the CEO, the Head of Quality & Operational Excellence will be the senior authority on all quality matters across our multi‑shift operation. You will architect and execute a world‑class quality management system (QMS), elevate our quality culture from the concrete to the carpet, and ensure flawless product launches and sustained customer satisfaction.
This is a hands‑on strategic role for a driven builder who thrives on setting vision, defining process, and delivering measurable results.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibility – What Success Looks Like
Strategic Quality Leadership – Craft a multi-year quality roadmap aligned to corporate objectives; secure leadership buy‑in and resources; report progress via clear KPIs.
Culture & Capability Building – Establish a quality driven culture through training, layered process audits, Gemba walks, and recognition programs; mentor and grow our current and future QA team into high‑performers.
Team Development – Design/Redesign the quality organization’s structure; recruit, onboard, and develop talent to double staffing capacity in line with growth plans while maintaining high engagement and low turnover.
QMS Architecture & Certification – Revalidate, upgrade and harmonize our ISO 9001 certification and systems; close gaps, write/standardize upgrade procedures, and lead external audits to successful certification.
New Program Development – Design and launch robust APQP and “safe launch” frameworks (DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plans, PPAP) that reduce launch defects and hit SOP milestones 100% on time.
Advanced Quality Tools – Implement SPC dashboards and data‑driven root‑cause analysis (8D, DMAIC)
Supplier Quality & Incoming Inspection – Introduce supplier scorecards, risk‑based audits, and a receipt‑to‑dock‑to‑line process that drives OTD and PPM improvements across the supply base.
Customer Engagement & Voice of Customer (VoC) – Serve as primary point of contact for customer audits, launches, and escalations; translate VoC into systemic improvements.
Regulatory & Compliance Stewardship – Ensure ongoing compliance with OSHA, EPA, RoHS, REACH, and any customer‑specific requirements; maintain documentation and response protocols.
Cross‑functional Continuous Improvement – Partner with Operations, Engineering, and Supply Chain to integrate Lean, 5S, OPDCA, and process‑capability initiatives that raise OEE and lower scrap.
Required Qualifications
10+ years progressive quality leadership in high‑volume injection molding or closely related manufacturing industry.
Proven track record building or overhauling QMS programs from the ground up, including full ISO 9001 certification cycle (IATF 16949 experience a plus).
Deep knowledge of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, and GD&T; comfortable teaching these tools to diverse audiences.
Demonstrated success shaping culture—from instituting layered audits to coaching all levels of an organization on quality mindset.
Data‑driven problem solver with Six Sigma Green Belt or higher (Black Belt preferred).
Experience leading external customer or third‑party audits and converting findings into systemic improvements.
Strong leadership skills: able to inspire, hold people accountable, and communicate effectively across all levels.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or related technical field (Master’s or MBA a plus).
Preferred Extras
Direct Injection molding experience.
Familiarity with automated optical inspection, vision systems, and Industry 4.0 quality analytics.
Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE).
