Quality Inspector
FOM is a precision CNC machine shop serving the Space, Aerospace, and Defense industries. We are AS9100 and ISO 9001 certified, and completing CMMC Level 2 certification.
Shift: Day shift
Role Summary
We’re looking for an experienced Quality Inspector to support first article, in-process, and final inspections for tight-tolerance aerospace/defense components. CMM programming experience is a plus but not required — we’re happy to train the right candidate.
Responsibilities
- Perform dimensional inspection using CMM, hand tools, and optical comparators
- Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and engineering specs
- Complete first article inspection (AS9102) reports
- Maintain inspection records per AS9100/ISO 9001 requirements
- Support ITAR-controlled data handling per company procedures
- Identify and document nonconformances
- Assist with in-house calibration of gauges and inspection equipment as time allows
- Support part marking operations
- Support assembly, including hardware installation
Requirements
- 3+ years quality inspection experience in a machine shop or aerospace/defense manufacturing environment
- Strong GD&T and blueprint reading skills
- Experience with hand measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, etc.)
- U.S. Person status required (ITAR)
- Attention to detail and strong documentation habits
- Willingness to support cross-functional shop tasks (marking, assembly)
Preferred
- CMM programming experience (CMM Manager or PC-DMIS)
- AS9102 FAI experience
- Calibration experience
