Construction Inspector (Vertical Structures) Jobs in Garfield Heights, OH at QCI Group
QCI Group is seeking a Construction Inspector with a focus on Vertical Structures to join our growing team in Garfield Heights, OH. In this role, you will provide construction inspection and observation services for vertical building projects, with an emphasis on architectural, structural, building envelope, life safety, and related building systems.
· Review construction activities for conformance with approved plans, specifications, applicable codes, and project requirements
· Document progress and deficiencies; coordinate with contractors and project stakeholders
· Support the delivery of high-quality construction administration and inspection services This position is an onsite field opportunity, with opportunities to contribute to project coordination, client communication, reporting, and quality assurance for vertical structures.
Technical & Field Work
- Perform construction inspections and field observations for vertical building projects, including new construction, renovations, additions, and repair work.
- Evaluate architectural, structural, building envelope, fire/life safety, and other building systems for general conformance with project documents
- Apply working knowledge of building codes, accessibility requirements,
- construction standards, and contract documents during inspection activities.
- Document construction progress, field conditions, deficiencies, and corrective actions with written notes and photographs.
- Serve as a liaison with contractors during the construction phase.
- Provide ongoing observation throughout each phase of construction to help verify contractor adherence to the approved drawings, specifications, and quality expectations.
- Identify, track, and communicate non-conforming work, construction deficiencies, punch-list items, and required follow-up inspections.
- Know, understand, and use standard industry terminology and the ability to proofread your own written work.
- Prepare construction observation reports, field reports, deficiency logs, punch-list documentation, and technical summaries with clear findings and recommendations for senior review.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Architectural Engineering, Architecture or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of related experience in vertical construction inspection, construction administration, architectural inspection, building envelope inspection, or related building construction services.
Knowledge & Skills
- Good knowledge of vertical building construction, including architectural assemblies, structural components, building envelope systems, and related building systems.
- Good knowledge of building codes, construction documents, materials, means and methods, and quality control practices for vertical structures.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, civil, and MEP drawings, specifications, shop drawings, submittals, and field sketches.
- Excellent oral & written communication skills.
- Dependable, self-motivated, responsible and detail oriented.
- Ability to work effectively in teams, with clients, peers and contractors, as well as independently.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license required
