Job Summary
Heritage General Contracting is seeking an experienced Construction Quality Control Manager (CQCM) to support our expanding operations, including projects in Fairbanks and Fort Wainwright. Reporting to the Project Manager, the CQCM is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining project-specific quality control programs that ensure all work complies with contract requirements, project specifications, and company standards.
This role is ideal for an experienced construction professional who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about delivering quality projects. While experience with USACE projects is an asset, we welcome candidates with strong commercial construction quality experience who are willing to obtain additional certifications as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain project-specific Quality Control Plans.
- Ensure all work, materials, and workmanship meet contract requirements, project specifications, and Heritage General Contracting quality standards.
- Monitor daily construction activities and materials delivered to site to verify compliance with project requirements.
- Coordinate, schedule, and document field inspections, material testing, and quality control activities.
- Observe and verify third-party inspections and testing.
- Prepare and maintain daily quality control reports, inspection records, testing documentation, and project quality files.
- Identify, document, and track deficiencies or non-conforming work, ensuring corrective actions are completed before subsequent work proceeds.
- Coordinate quality control activities with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, consultants, and owner representatives.
- Manage quality-related project closeout requirements, including inspections, testing, warranties, and final documentation.
- Promote a culture of quality, safety, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the project team.
Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum five (5) years of commercial construction experience.
- A degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, Journeyman Carpenter certification, or an equivalent combination of education and construction experience.
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, scopes of work, project schedules, and contract documents.
- Experience with construction quality control processes, inspections, testing, documentation, and closeout procedures.
- Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with subcontractors, superintendents, engineering staff, consultants, clients, and owner representatives.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accurate project documentation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; experience with Procore, ProjNet, RMS, or similar construction management software is an asset.
- OSHA 30 certification is preferred.
- USACE Contractor Quality Management (QCM) certification is preferred or the ability to obtain after hire.
- HAZCOM, First Aid/CPR, Lead Awareness, and other project-specific certifications are considered assets or may be obtained after hire.
- Experience with USACE Three-Phase Quality Control Program and Federal, State, or military construction projects is considered an asset.
- Valid Driver’s License and the ability to successfully obtain access to military installations.
