Job Description:

The client seeks a dedicated Application Laboratory Technician to join our Care R&D Lab in Charlotte, NC.
This role involves conducting tests across fabric and dish care product categories to support product development and quality initiatives.

OBJECTIVES

Perform tests on washing machines, dryers, and dishwashers according to industry standards.
Instrument products following test protocols.
Order necessary test materials (e.g., detergent, test clothes).
Collaborate with development engineers to optimize test procedures and improve cleaning and drying performance.
Collect and summarize test data.
Prioritize and organize work to meet deadlines.
Communicate key observations and suggest improvements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Set up and conduct tests according to the client standards.
Complete performance testing to verify product specifications.
Use electronic methods to record and format test data.
Accurately document data and test setups on electronic datasheets.
Utilize MS Excel extensively to plot and evaluate raw data.
Diagnose test failures and propose solutions.
Understand and maintain testing standards and data sheets.
Review, maintain, and update documentation to reflect current practices.
Operate, calibrate, test, and maintain basic lab equipment.
Maintain and organize laboratory supplies, fixtures, tools, and equipment.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum of an associate degree in a scientific, mathematical, or technical field or equivalent Lab experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES PREFERRED

Familiarity with laboratory equipment, data acquisition, testing procedures, and data analysis methods.
Proficiency in MS Excel.
Experience with MATLAB and LabVIEW is a plus.
Strong problem-solving skills
Team-oriented with good communication skills.
Creative and proactive approach

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work in an R&D Lab facility with varying conditions (hot, cold, humid, arid).
Safely operate an appliance dolly and move appliances as needed for testing

NOTES:Position: Technician for fabric care (e.g., washing machines) and dish gear (e.g., dishwashers).Primary Duties:

Sound Chamber Testing: Set up and operate dishwashers in an anechoic chamber for sound tests.
Dish Preparation: Soil dishes and utensils following procedures for testing dishwasher efficiency.
Mechanical Testing: Set up and test washing machines, including out-of-balance simulations.
Data Collection: Set up equipment for data acquisition; basic data analysis is a plus but not mandatory.
Physical Tasks: Move heavy equipment (potentially over 100 lbs) using specialized lifting equipment (e.g., pallet jack).

Ideal Candidate Profile:

Experience: Basic mechanical knowledge; experience with manufacturing or similar environments.

Skills:

Organizational abilities.
Basic understanding of testing protocols.
Basic data interpretation skills are beneficial.
Communication skills for reporting issues and collaborating with engineers.
Familiarity with 5S or Six Sigma is a bonus but not required.
Education: No specific educational requirement; an associate’s degree could be advantageous for future roles but is not essential.
Physical Requirements: Ability to move and set up equipment, sometimes requiring physical exertion (over 100 lbs).
Reliability: Consistent attendance and responsibility are critical.
