Position: Level 3 Quality Inspector (3rd Shift)
Job Summary:
The Level 3 Quality Inspector works independently, without supervision, and demonstrates expert proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5. This role requires advanced blueprint reading capabilities, solid manufacturing math skills, and subject matter expertise in Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) inspection. The inspector will interpret inspection results to verify product compliance and offer detailed feedback to improve quality. A strong background in AS9102 reporting is essential, including the ability to independently prepare reports. This role is responsible for First Article, In-Process, and Final Inspections within a machining environment and will support 3rd shift operations.
Schedule:
Sunday – Thursday, 8:15 PM – 4:45 AM. Training will be conducted from 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM for approximately 3 months or until job proficiency is demonstrated. A shift premium applies once assigned to 3rd shift. Overtime may be required based on operational needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform dimensional inspections both inside and outside CNC equipment using internal and external specifications
Conduct First Article Inspections to validate process integrity
Operate CMMs for part measurement and inspection
Use manual inspection methods to confirm GD&T requirements
Prioritize and manage workflow within the Inspection department based on shipping schedules
Conduct visual inspections using appropriate tools and techniques
Measure part dimensions using precision instruments including calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and CMM
Document and tag nonconforming items and record them in the internal Material Review Board (MRB) system
Required Qualifications & Skills:
Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English
Reliable and punctual with strong decision-making skills
Capable of performing calculations involving fractions, decimals, and basic trigonometry
Skilled in interpreting technical drawings and work instructions
Comfortable navigating software systems to locate and process documents
Strong working knowledge of ASME Y14.5 and ability to apply metrology techniques
Experienced in applying AS9100 standards during inspections
Self-driven with a strong sense of accountability
Team-oriented and engaged in identifying process improvements and contributing to the MRB process
Maintain a clean and organized workspace aligned with 6S standards
Adhere to all safety and company policies
Perform other duties as assigned
Experience & Education Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required
Minimum 5 years of hands-on inspection experience in a manufacturing or machining environment
Proficient in performing First Article, In-Process, and Final Inspections
Strong understanding of blueprint reading and GD&T-based measurement techniques
Background in aerospace, automotive, or similar regulated industries preferred
Experience with large-part CNC machining (36” diameter or larger) is a plus
Physical Requirements:
Frequent use of hands/fingers for measuring and handling parts
Ability to see, hear, and communicate clearly
Regular physical activity including standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, and occasional lifting of up to 35 lbs
Adequate vision for close work, color identification, and depth perception
Work Environment:
Work is performed on the manufacturing floor with moderate noise and occasional exposure to mist, airborne particles, and similar elements
Use of PPE is required at all times

Pay: $25.00 – $27.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
