CWI WELDING INSPECTOR
Lamar, SC | $35 to $40 per hour
This role is with a manufacturing facility specializing in structural racking systems. The Welding Inspector will provide continuous inspection and documentation of manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code requirements and company quality standards, with hands on oversight of cutting, punching, shearing, stamping, notching, welding, and painting operations. Welding operations utilize a GMAW Spray Transfer process.
Schedule
Full time, four day work week (10 hour shifts, Monday to Thursday), Second Shift, 4:30 PM to 3:00 AM.
Compensation
$35 to $40 per hour, depending on experience.
What You’ll Do
The Welding Inspector conducts daily floor and weld inspections, including part fit up, visual inspection, and review of WPS’s and PQR’s, and performs welder certification testing per AWS D1.1, including minor destructive testing. This role prepares and maintains Welder Qualification Records (WQRs), PQRs, WPSs, and inspection records, monitors welder qualifications, and maintains controlled processes, procedures, and specifications. The Welding Inspector also verifies welding equipment functionality and documentation daily, interprets fabrication drawings for use in inspection activities, and supports and maintains the facility’s Quality Assurance Manual.
Required Qualifications
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or AWI certification
- Strong knowledge of the AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong documentation, inspection, and quality assurance skills
- Strong penmanship and attention to detail
- Computer skills, including MS Office
- Clean driving record (willing to sign a waiver for verification)
- Strong organizational skills; self driven and motivated
- Knowledge of inspection tools and equipment
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in manufacturing and welding processes
- Post secondary education beyond high school
