Job Overview

The Digital team are seeking a driven Data Quality & Assurance Lead to ensure high standards of data accuracy, integrity, and divisional audit assurance for the organisation. This role will lead the development and delivery of data quality strategies, frameworks, and policies, supporting regulatory compliance, operational performance, and decision-making.

You will design and deliver our data quality strategy and related implementation plans. You will be responsible for the completion of Digital audit and assurance programmes, monitoring of internal and external data quality metrics, and analyse trends, risks, and improvement opportunities. Working with commissioners, auditors, and clinical, financial, operational and digital teams, you will promote best practice and a culture of high-quality data and measurable assurance. Outputs from this role will contribute to regular assurance statements to Trust governance forums and the wider public.

Key responsibilities include leading data quality improvement initiatives, advising stakeholders, ensuring alignment with national standards, and acting as the main link between Digital, commissioning teams, and auditors. You will also build organisational capability by leading & developing staff.

The ideal candidate will have experience in data quality, analytics, commissioning, or information governance, with strong analytical, communication, & leadership skills—offering a great opportunity to drive performance through high-quality data.

Main duties of the job

The Data Quality & Assurance Lead is the strategic lead for data quality across the Bristol NHS Group. The postholder is responsible for setting and delivering the Group’s Data Quality Strategy, ensuring data integrity, completeness, and usability across clinical, operational, and corporate domains.

This role provides assurance to the Board, regulators, and commissioners on data quality compliance and leads the development of robust data governance frameworks aligned with national standards and digital transformation programmes. The postholder also has a key role to play in wider change management, including advising on strategic implementations of digital systems and services.

The postholder will lead a multi-disciplinary team, act as a senior advisor on data quality and governance and represent the Group in regional and national forums.
