Quality Engineer – Alarm.com for Business

Alarm.com for Business is seeking a Quality Engineer to join our team and help ensure the quality and performance of our Small & Medium Business (SMB) solutions. This role involves validating hardware, backend services, and software components, working closely with cross-functional product teams to uphold rigorous industry quality standards.

As a Quality Engineer, you will be involved throughout the product lifecycle—from early development to launch and ongoing post-deployment support. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically adept, and passionate about continuous improvement and problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities:

Own the end-to-end testing process in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Partner with product and engineering teams to balance risk and delivery timelines.
Design and execute test plans, log and track defects, and support weekly software and hardware releases.
Set up and maintain test environments and develop strategies for successful validation.
Investigate, triage, and escalate issues; propose and drive corrective actions.
Leverage engineering knowledge and test methodologies to certify products and deployments.
Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.
Exceptional time management and organizational abilities.
Ability to work independently and take initiative to resolve issues.
Clear and concise communication skills.
Attention to detail with a structured and methodical approach to testing.
Team player with a growth mindset and a “whatever-it-takes” attitude.
Preferred Qualifications:
1–2 years of QA experience in an agile or fast-paced environment.
QA certifications such as CQA or CQE.
Hands-on experience with hardware testing.
Familiarity with IoT or home automation technologies.
Experience estimating test efforts and optimizing test plans.
