JOB OVERVIEW:

Jamison Properties is seeking a technically skilled and detail-oriented Design Quality Control Manager to join our development team. We are a multifamily and mixed-use real estate developer specializing in ground-up construction and adaptive reuse projects throughout LA. As the Design Quality Control Manager, you will be responsible for establishing, maintaining, and continuously improving our design standards, technical guidelines, and quality control processes. This role will provide technical oversight throughout the design, permitting, and construction phases by reviewing documentation. Working closely with our development team, this position will help bridge the gap between design intent and construction execution by incorporating field experience, lessons learned, and industry best practices into future projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with internal development teams, project stakeholders, architects, engineers, contractors, Wilshire Construction, and governmental agencies to support project execution and promote consistent design quality.
  • Perform technical reviews of project documentation including design drawings, specifications, permit sets, RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and other construction documents to verify completeness, coordination, constructibility, code compliance, and alignment with company’ standards.
  • Establish, implement, and maintain design quality control processes throughout the project lifecycle to identify potential issues early and minimize construction conflicts, change orders, delays, and rework.
  • Develop, update, and maintain design standards, technical guidelines, details, and best practices.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of prototype unit layouts, standard details, specifications, and design criteria to improve consistency, efficiency, and quality.
  • Participate in design reviews, constructability reviews, and value engineering efforts to identify opportunities for improved cost efficiency and long-term building quality.
  • Review design decisions and technical solutions with consideration for construction feasibility, operational requirements, maintenance considerations, and company objectives.
  • Participate in project meetings throughout design development, construction documentation, permitting, and construction administration phases to provide technical input and identify potential coordination issues.
  • Conduct periodic project site visits to observe construction progress, understand field conditions, identify recurring construction challenges, and provide feedback to improve future design standards and processes.
  • Monitor changes to applicable building codes, regulations, permitting requirements, and industry best practices to ensure company standards remain current and effective.
  • Maintain organized records of design reviews, lessons learned, recurring issues, and quality control recommendations to support continuous improvement across future projects.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field required; professional architecture degree (B.Arch or M.Arch) preferred.
  • 5+ years experience in architecture, construction, design management, construction administration, or a related field, with experience on multifamily, mixed-use, residential, or complex commercial projects preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing construction documents, including drawings, specifications, details, shop drawings, RFIs, submittals, and other technical documentation.
  • Strong understanding of construction administration processes, including coordination between design teams, consultants, contractors, and ownership groups.
  • Advanced knowledge of building codes and regulations applicable to multifamily development, including Building Code, Zoning Code, Green Building Standards, ADA requirements, and Fire/Life Safety requirements.
  • Strong ability to identify design coordination issues, constructability challenges, and potential impacts to project quality, schedule, and cost.
  • Experience developing/implementing design standards, quality control procedures, technical guidelines, or project delivery processes is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of architectural drawings, construction details, building systems, materials, and construction methods.
  • Knowledge of Los Angeles permitting requirements, including Department of Building and Safety, Department of Public Works, Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, and other applicable agency requirements is preferred.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with a critical eye for design quality, constructability, coordination, and long-term building performance.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, development teams, and company leadership.

Skills:

  • Proficiency with Bluebeam and Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • Experience with construction management platforms such as Procore or similar software preferred.
  • Familiarity with Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, or other design documentation software is a plus.

Pay: $90,000.00 – $140,000.00 per year
