Director of Quality Engineering Jobs in Atlanta, GA at Hiscox

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Perform internal calibration on basic measuring equipment.
Coordinate external calibration activities with tool owners and calibration laboratories.
In addition to conducting inspections on products at all stages of the manufacturing process and documenting inspection findings and results in the BMS via Task entries.
Based on the initial findings for an issue, determine when further actions are needed and implement those actions (for example, checking product at the next level).
Work with Operations to perform root cause analysis on trends, determining what actions are needed to prevent a recurrence of a defect.
Assist the Quality team in:
Reading and interpreting specifications and Engineering prints.
Performing product identification and traceability activities.
Understanding housekeeping, quality, safety, and work rules and regulations.
Understanding and use of advanced measuring equipment.
Work with Product Managers and other department personnel on:
Measuring first production runs and providing data to support product development.
Work with Material Handling personnel to expedite inspection of received materials as needed.
Provide feedback to Area Supervisors on inspection results for customer complaints.
Organize and format data on inspection results to help support the extent of issues Quality is seeing.

Experience, Skills & Education:

Experience Level: Minimum one year as Quality Technician 1 or equivalent
Understand and apply internal calibration requirements and use of calibration software
Must possess basic writing skills
Understanding and use of basic and advanced measuring tools (Height Gage, Coordinate Measurement Machine) required.
Demonstrated advanced use of K&N’s Business Management System (BMS) i.e. Initiating Purchase Orders, performing traceability inquiries for suspect and nonconforming product.
Previous ISO 9001 experience helpful.
Previous Quality Assurance experience required.
Must be competent in use of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and Windows software.

Must demonstrate ability to simultaneously handle multiple duties, prioritize, follow through on all tasks and projects, and meet pre-determined deadlines with limited supervision
Ability to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills with internal and external customers and in a 1-on-1 or team situation
Consistently demonstrate a positive company image to K&N customers

This is a second shift position, with work hours from 1:00pm – 10:00pm.
