Supplier Quality Engineer

Job Family – Supply Chain / Procurement and Quality
This role is key to driving the development of key global category strategies that will be adopted, implemented, and managed by the Global Supply Chain/Procurement Team/s. The role is critical to supporting the business to maximises contribution margin and the creation of supply chain competitiveness through value for money solutions.

Job Summary
The supplier quality engineer supports the supply chain and procurement function to manage relationships with suppliers and implements improvement in product quality. The supplier quality engineer performs audits to ensure compliance with quality standards of the organisation and regulatory standards.

Duties and responsibilities
Carryout Supplier visits as and when required both nationally and internationally. Evaluate suppliers, conduct audits, and assess supplier quality metrics.
Manage Supplier Audit Schedule. Work with suppliers to ensure all necessary quality activities are rigorously carried out before product is despatched to A&D.
Support Supply Chain Manager and Quality Manager to identify and manage potential risk in supplier (Quality / Delivery). Monitor supplier performance and response times to ensure production continuity and identify negative trends to mitigate forthcoming supply risks.
Lead Supplier Development where appropriate. Develop and implement supplier quality-related training programs for chosen strategic / bottleneck suppliers and the internal quality / supply chain teams.
Manage Supplier Source Change Process. Review supplier manufacturing processes, manufacturing capability and production rate readiness.
Responsible for supplier non-conformance mitigation. Manage supplier corrective action reports and completion within timely manner.
Generate Monthly KPI’s for suppliers and report into business. Monitor performance to ensure quality or detect material defects before A&D site production is placed at risk.
Preparing reports to communicate outcomes of quality activities. Ensure level zero activities are caried out prior to reporting issues to supplier.
Manage sample disposition with design engineering.

Knowledge
Ability to carry out audits to AS91002016 standard.
Ability to carry out practical problem solving in the form of 8D, 5 Why and Ishikawa.
Preparation of supplier quality KPI’s.
Developing and implementing supplier quality related training programmes.
Understanding manufacturing process and understanding continuous improvements.
Ability to be able to develop audit schedule based on supplier’s risk.

Experience and qualifications.
Bachelor’s degree in a Science or Engineering discipline
Lead auditor qualification.
Member of a professional quality institute
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a supplier quality function.
Experienced in leading teams and reporting into matrixed structures.
Proficient on MS Office applications.
