PLIB has an immediate opening for the position of District Supervisor – California Region. The District Supervisor position is a unique and highly sought after career advancement opportunity for those intimately involved in the quality control of lumber or manufactured wood products. POSITION SUMMARY

The PLIB District Supervisor – U.S. Region reports directly to the PLIB North American Regional Manager. The U.S. District Supervisor’s duties will encompass five broad objectives which collectively formulate the service that PLIB desires to provide to its members and subscribers. These five objectives are:

  • Assist members and subscribers in achieving the highest value from their resources while maintaining satisfactory quality levels for the products produced.
  • Maintain and protect the integrity of the PLIB and its registered grade stamp marks.
  • Maintain the standards that influence the quality of the wood products that PLIB members and subscribers produce.
  • Teach, train, and otherwise improve the knowledge and skills of member/subscriber personnel involved in the quality control and quality marking process.
  • Assist PLIB management in providing service at the lowest possible cost.

As a successful District Supervisor, you will be responsible for evaluating the quality of graded, certificated and quality marked wood products including lumber, glulam, and wood packaging manufactured by PLIB’s US member mills and subscribers. You will be exposed to a wide variety of important issues that impact the wood products industry and participate in the development of the quality standards that are used throughout the industry as well as educating mill personnel on these grades and standards. Through your work, you will meet and develop relationships with colleagues across North America and Europe.

This role in PLIB serves a wide range of producers California. This position requires travel in the Central and/or Southern California region.

Qualified candidates must meet the following minimum criteria to be considered:

  • Be a certified lumber grader by an accrediting grading agency and be in good standing.
  • Have thorough knowledge of PLIB, WWPA Grading Rules, the National Grading Rule and its interpretations.
  • Reside in Central or Southern California or be willing to relocate.
  • Have a valid passport or be willing to apply for a passport.
  • Be physically able to lift and turn lumber.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and be able to safely operate a vehicle.
  • Be willing and able to travel away from home, sometimes overnight.

Starting salary range for this position is USD $75,000 up to $85,000, depending on experience and qualifications/certifications. In addition to the salary, we provide a benefits package that includes health care (medical, dental, vision), company provided 401k contribution, life insurance, PTO/holiday pay, and company provided vehicle/reimbursement program.
