Title: Engine Metrology Technician

LiquidPiston, Inc. is seeking an Engine Metrology Technician to join our expanding team. This role will contribute to engine projects in the R&D phase- using state-of-the-art measurement equipment to make accurate measurements on new and “end of test” rotary engine components. The Engine Metrology Technician will work alongside and share some duties with Engine Build Technicians and communicate frequently with Engineering.Qualifications:
2+ years in a related field
Skills to operate a broad range of measurement tools
Strong understanding of measurement techniques
Ability to read engineering drawings including GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
Demonstrated ability to self-direct and independently solve problems
Sharp focus and attention to small details
Mechanical background experience in engine assembly or precision machining a plus
Specific Duties include but are not limited to:
Inspect and measure components using 3D scanning tools, profilometers, micrometers, dial indicators
Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and GD&T specifications to verify part conformity
Perform pre-build and post-build inspections, recording precise measurements and ensuring all components meet required specifications
Collaborate with engineers and machinists to refine engine manufacturing processes and improve overall performance
Maintain accurate inspection reports, calibration records, and build documentation for traceability
Develop programs for dimensional inspection using advanced measurement equipment
Create fixturing to ensure repeatable measurements
Clean and prep parts
Maintain clean and organized shop
Additionally:
Communicate professionally with teammates both on and off site to resolve technical problems
Continuously improve facilities by keeping it clean, organized,and prepared for tests and customer demonstrations
Assist as needed with computer/IT tasks, procurement/purchasing tasks, and shop/building maintenance. Being a small company, these additional duties may change with time depending on your abilities and company’s needs
