Position: ENGINEER, DRILLING FLUIDS

Assess

quality assurance

and

quality control

of drilling fluids chemicals and additives to ensure their performance aligns with oilfield standards.

Job Specific Accountabilities (Part

1)

Monitor and control

quality assurance

of all drilling and completion chemicals and brines. Maintain proper QA/QC records.

Carry out spot checks of chemicals in stores, supplier stores, service company stores & rigs, and brines at the brine plant. Verify proper storage, handling, house-keeping procedures, HSE procedures, and document control.

Liaise with the Commercial division and stores to ensure sufficient safety stock of chemicals. Monitor chemical consumption patterns, investigate abnormalities, and establish quarterly requirements based on planned wells.

Maintain checks on the performance of Service Company formulations through lab pilot tests.

Investigate chemical quality discrepancies, implement corrective actions, and follow up with suppliers for compliance.

Participate in troubleshooting drilling problems, suggest solutions, and perform lab pilot tests as needed.

Coordinate with other OPCOs’ labs for proper QA/QC of all Price Agreement chemicals’ per-life samples, ensuring proper sampling procedures.

Monitor adherence to HSE procedures regarding chemicals, promote the use of environmentally friendly chemicals, and work to reduce waste and improve waste management.

Conduct periodic audits of supplier stores, including qualification, tender evaluation, mobilization, and regular HSE & quality audits, and issue reports.

Participate in technical evaluations of tenders for chemicals and liaise with other OPCOs as required.

Contribute fluids input to the Well Value Assurance process to improve fluid performance.

Review and update manuals related to drilling fluids, chemical QA/QC, lab procedures, and chemical specifications.

Perform pilot studies on new formulations, chemicals, and technologies; evaluate and implement trials, and prepare reports.

Review fluid reports, well recaps, end-of-well reports, and phase reports; monitor solids control equipment for efficiency and recommend improvements.

Provide QA/QC support to the Cement group, liaising with labs, suppliers, and service companies.

Stay updated on latest developments in fluids and chemicals, assess new offers, and introduce

innovative

products and procedures.

Ensure compliance with HSE policies and regulations.

Qualifications Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent

Minimum 6 years of relevant experience

Professional Certifications as applicable

Work Conditions Minimal physical effort required

Work in an A/C environment with occasional site visits in weather conditions like heat, humidity, and dust
