Job Summary: CSC is seeking an Engineering Intern with a focus in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical or Industrial Engineering interested in growth development and sophisticated project assignments for our summer program. In this program the intern will be part of a team that shapes the future of the Steel industry by identifying and implementing quality and productivity improvement solutions at one of our manufacturing locations. By being fully integrated into one of the sites, the intern will work directly with key stakeholders in operations, maintenance, quality, and safety with assigned mentors to maximize the learning experience.

Essential Functions

Technical exposure to various production and support units within the manufacturing location.

Research and develop processes and guidelines for various functional operational units within the facility.

Analyze production costs, productivity issues, and provide quality control improvement solutions.

Focus on improving the quality and reliability of equipment by proactively identifying potential problems and troubleshooting issues.

Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in data sets.

Detailed documentation of findings in various systems.

Decipher data, apply findings into project recommendations, and revise project plans/drawings/materials.

Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Requirements

Recent graduate or pursuing a bachelor’s degree (enrolled student) in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Industrial Engineering or related field with a minimum GPA of 3.0.

Ability to comply with and enforce company, safety and environmental policies and procedures.

Technical writing, presentations, and critical thinking skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications.

Strong verbal and written communication skills and able to work effectively and in a team environment.

Well-developed problem-solving and analytical skills to analyze and interpret data with accuracy and attention to detail.

High level of initiative and motivation, with excellent planning and organizational skills.

Physical Demands

Occasionally required to sit, frequently stands and walks, use hands and fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. Regularly required to talk or hear. Seldom lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

General office and constant exposure to computer display screen. Routine exposure to structural (heavy) steel fabrication environment and routine outside weather conditions, excessive noise levels and is seldom exposed to vibration. Frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
