Job Title: Inspection Manager (Full-time)
Location: Remote, USA
Role Overview: Ecocert USA/NICS, part of the Ecocert Group — a global organization focused on excellence in organic and sustainability certifications — is seeking a dedicated Inspection Manager to join our team. Key Responsibilities:
Ensure consistency and reliability of inspection activities according to NOP regulations and other applicable standards.
Develop, implement, and manage the annual inspection plan for all applicable programs while ensuring effective coordination and utilization of shared inspection resources in collaboration with the Ecocert USA inspection/audit team.
Supervise, evaluate, and provide training for inspection staff through performance monitoring, field evaluations, and ongoing development to ensure efficiency and quality.
Collaborate with the finance department to ensure an efficient and effective inspection billing process.
Collaborate with the certification and quality departments to guarantee efficient and effective implementation of the program(s) and quality system including maintenance and development of documents related to inspection activities.
Facilitate and support the organization’s relationship with and accountability to authorities and associations within the scope of inspections and related activities. Includes participation in internal and external audits.
Partner with the NICS and U.S. Ecocert leadership teams to execute the current strategic plan and assist in development of the future strategic plan. Includes participation in semi-annual leadership team meetings and annual management review.
Expect some travel (5-10%) across the United States for training evaluations, in-person meetings, trainings, and events.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
High school diploma required, plus either a minimum of 2 years of secondary studies in agriculture, food science, or food systems, or at least 2 years of relevant work experience in these fields. Organic industry experience preferred.
7+ years working knowledge of the NOP and USDA Organic regulation
5+ years’ experience as an Auditor/Inspector within the Organic Food and Agriculture sectors. Must be qualified as an NOP Auditor/Inspector to at least the Crop and Livestock scopes.
2+ years management or supervisory experience in a team setting.
Exceptional attention to detail with strong communication skills (oral and written).
Highly organized and capable of managing multiple projects without compromising quality. Independent work ethic with a collaborative spirit.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience developing, maintaining, and conducting training programming to include training tool innovations and materials.
Qualified as an NOP Auditor/Inspector to the Processing/Handling scope.
Knowledge of inspection logistics planning and utilization of tools and innovations to maximize efficiency, economy, and ecological sustainability.
Knowledge of other organic food, agriculture, and sustainability programs outside of NOP/USDA (Regenerative Organic – ROC, Organic Plus-Trust – OPT, Global Organic Textiles (GOTS), Fair for Life, Certified Humane)
Proficient using Microsoft office software, Adobe Acrobat, databases, and other information technology.
