This position is for Parker Hannifin’s Composite Sealing Systems Division, located in San Diego (Otay Mesa), California.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Plant Quality Manager is responsible for leading and managing the quality function, championing the division’s quality philosophy and lean culture at the plant level. Key responsibilities include establishing, maintaining, and continuously optimizing an effective quality management system. The manager implements the Business Unit’s quality plan to meet overall quality objectives and drives product and service enhancements through the application of ISO 9001 and AS9100 standards, problem-solving methodologies, prevention strategies, quality-at-the-source principles, and continuous improvement techniques. In addition to operational oversight, the Plant Quality Manager fosters clear and effective communication, resolves conflicts, and motivates team members through coaching, training, and constructive feedback—promoting skill development and career growth. They also analyze operational data to make informed decisions, monitor key performance indicators, and leverage tracking systems to achieve goals.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Communicate customer, regulatory and organizational requirements to assure product quality, contract compliance and customer satisfaction.
Oversee the effective documentation and implementation of the quality management system to assure compliance with customer and regulatory requirements and the standards set by corporate/division policies.
Work with the leadership team to ensure that individuals performing functions affecting quality are trained and demonstrate the appropriate skills and performance results.
Coordinate necessary plant personnel for internal, customer, and third-party quality system audits.
Maintain a corrective action system to analyze and correct nonconforming conditions and complaints.
Implement the performance measurements necessary to effectively evaluate organizational performance and trends in product quality, services, customer satisfaction and the cost of poor quality.
Utilize the results of performance evaluation to target improvement efforts.
Assess supplier capabilities and monitor supplier quality to ensure desired levels of performance.
Interact routinely with all functional areas as well as with customers, field sales, regulatory agencies, division/group/corporate management, and suppliers.
Supervise daily operations within the department to ensure productivity and efficiency and quality of products.
Maintain responsibility for employee safety and support safety related initiatives.
Oversee administrative leadership tasks, including conducting performance reviews, managing disciplinary actions, and approving timecards.
Lead High-Performance Teams (HPT) to drive continuous improvement initiatives and enhance operational processes through BARNS and weekly HPT meetings.
Follows established safety and environmental policies, procedures, and methods applicable to the work area.
Performs other duties as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree (BA) in Engineering or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience which has provided both theoretical and practical knowledge in the field.
Experience:
5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
5+ years of Quality, Engineering, or related experience
2+ years of experience in a supervisory role
SAP experience, preferred
MSS mainframe experience, preferred
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
Intermediate to advanced computer skills with the ability to understand electronic processing.
Ability to adapt to changing tasks and work assignments in a fast-paced setting.
Ability to analyze situations critically and make informed decisions.
Ability to work, train, and develop verbal and written instructions.
Ability to be innovative and embrace Lean enterprises principles and practices.
Skills:
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills for effective interface with all internal and external contacts in English.
Bilingual in Spanish or Tagalog, preferred.
Physical Demands:
Ability to lift up to 35 pounds regularly.
Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time.
Ability to use hands and fingers for detailed work over extended periods of time.
Ability to perform repetitive tasks with a focus on accuracy and efficiency for extended periods of time.
Ability to safely work on the manufacturing floor and operate or be around heavy machinery.
Ability to wear required PPE throughout the entirety of the shift.

SALARY INFORMATION:
Please note that the salary range information is only applicable for California. Compensation is based on a variety of factors, candidate experience, qualifications, location as well as market and business considerations. Pay Range: $101,874 annually – $169,885 annually.
