Job Summary
Performs activities and other tasks as necessary in a laboratory environment. Responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, and maintaining cleanrooms and equipment. Assists with receipt and inspection of raw materials, and ordering and stocking of materials and equipment
Essential Functions
Assists laboratory staff in routine tests used in diagnosis and treatment of disease.
Ensures equipment is in good working order. Understand mechanics of equipment and reports malfunctions to supervisor. Understands safety hazards common to the laboratory.
Logs lab procedures completed. Processes related paperwork.
Assists laboratory staff in routine tests used in diagnosis and treatment of disease.
Performs microscopic examination of body cells to identify abnormalities.
Operates a wide variety of laboratory instrumentation, prepares accurate reports such as Quality Control and Quality Assurance.
Utilizes computer system for data storage and retrieval.
Maintains a clean, safe and well-stocked work area including records, supplies and equipment.
Ability to establish/maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.
Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions and follow written protocols.
Accurately collects improvement performance data as directed.
Actively participates in the development and implementation of process improvements.
Follows company policies to ensure compliance with OSHA, CLIA and other regulatory agencies. Utilizes universal precautions in handling infectious material.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Complies with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
H.S. Diploma or GED required
Less than 2 years Lab preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Continuing education of new technologies.
Excellent time management skills
Strong organization & communication skills.
Basic knowledge of tools and equipment.
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations
Superior ability to perform laboratory testing.
Ability to handle high volumes of work without error.
Knowledge of laboratory and quality control procedures.
Licenses and Certifications
AHA or ARC BLS Certification due within 30 days of employment required
