JOB PURPOSE
The QA Process Tech in pistol assembly will support production with the goal to produce product exceeding customer expectations in an efficient and effective manner.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This is a startup assembly process that will grow over time and the responsibilities of the position will most likely change to keep up with the development of the pistol assembly processes.
Post Fire Pistol Range Inspection – Complete post firing inspections according to checklist. Be prepared to add other inspections on the form when customer complaints are received so we can contain the defect from being shipped to other customers.
First line investigation function on MRB – Judge if cosmetic items can be seen at 18” and would be objectionable to the final purchaser of the pistol. Complete dimensional checks and/or change out assembled parts to determine which part is causing the assembly concern. Ensure production tags parts with part numbers on the tag.
Workstation Audits –
Are the work instructions being followed.
Are operators performing required station checks.
BOM to Current build sheet. Do we have the correct part numbers at the station?
Inspect completed parts from the workstation, do they have all required components installed correctly?
QA Alerts – Support process of issuing and training on the QA Alert. QA Alerts are used to show both the accepted and not accepted condition in order to secure containment and protect the end user.
Receiving Inspection Test Builds. Build and follow parts from the sub assembly to final gun for parts from suppliers for test builds.
Measurement Studies – Capability studies from parts on the floor for improvement or corrective action projects as assigned.
Certifying Parts for Production – Example – Front Standard Day sights failing at 10-13% on the line for no threads. Quick backlit visual will sort out no threads or save failure rate on the line.
Other reasonable duties will be assigned from time to time in order to secure the quality of pistols assembled in this process.
Adhere to guidelines and procedures to ensure the safe handling, removal, and disposal of both hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
All other duties as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
State the minimum qualifications required to successfully perform the job. These are the qualifications that are necessary for someone to be considered for the position.
Qualifications include:
Education
High School Diploma required. 2-year degree preferred.
Specialized knowledge
Interworking of handguns, and assembly processes
Skills
Organize thoughts logically, MS office products, spreadsheets in particular.
Use of hand-held gauges such as calipers and micrometers
Abilities
Problem solving. Pistol function knowledge a plus.
Professional Certifications
Any professional certifications will be considered.
Experience
Manufacturing experience required. Prior Quality Experience preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Production floor work where standing for long periods of time is required. There will most likely be time spent on the firing range.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This job’s physical requirements will change over time. So, days you may find yourself on your feet for most of the day next to a particular station. On other days, you may be seated for long periods of time inspecting parts.
