Food Safety & QA Technologist Jobs in Martin City, MO at Smithfield Foods
Join our team as a 3rd shift Quality Assurance Technician and play a key role in ensuring the quality and safety of our raw materials, packaging, and finished products. You’ll work cross-functionally with Manufacturing, R&D, and Technical Services to uphold our commitment to excellence. This role is hands-on, fast-paced, and offers opportunities for growth and development.
Location: Bethlehem, PA
Shift: 3rd (Approx: 10:00 pm – 6:30 am)
How You’ll Impact Results:
Ensure Quality & Compliance: Audit daily production processes, verify equipment like check weighers and metal detectors, and maintain regulatory standards.
Data & Analysis: Collect, record, and analyze data to support continuous improvement and problem-solving initiatives.
Product Testing & Validation: Conduct ingredient validation versus Certificates of Analysis and support testing for product and packaging changes.
Collaboration & Training: Work alongside production teams, assist with training, and contribute to troubleshooting and corrective actions.
Innovation & Development: Gain hands-on experience in confectionery technology, quality assurance processes, and operational excellence.
Your Qualifications That Will Ensure Success:
Education & Experience:
B.S. in Food Science, Biology, Micro-Biology or related field preferred, OR
Minimum High School diploma with 2+ years of experience in a technical role in Food or FDA regulated manufacturing environment (Quality and/or Lab experience a plus).
Skills & Knowledge:
Knowledge of Food Safety, GFSI (SQF, BRC, ISO, etc.), and sanitation standards is highly preferred
Knowledge of analytical laboratory testing procedures is preferred
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
Basic understanding of lab and manufacturing equipment.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to move safely within office and plant environments.
Clear communication skills for effective collaboration.
Flexibility to work extended hours and occasional weekends as needed.
