Job Summary: Responsible for overseeing and ensuring adherence to quality standards, leading a quality team, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives. This role demands a strong understanding of quality management systems (IATF16949 and ISO14001), regulatory compliance, and the ability to effectively lead and train others.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Ensure the QMS is effectively implemented and maintained, including processes for document control, internal audits, external audits and corrective actions, in line with IATF 16949 requirements.
2. Supervise, train, and mentor quality control inspectors and other team members, fostering a culture of quality excellence and continuous improvement.
3. Identify, document, and analyze quality issues, implement process improvements to reduce defects, and ensure adherence to APQP, SPC and PPAP requirements.
4. Supervise, conduct inspections, tests, and analyses to ensure products meet quality standards and customer requirements.
5. Manage all quality/Lab operations including quality purchases, charts, graphs, and people.
6. Coordinate/participate in Impact teams and employee quality training activities. Function as resident expert for other team activities.
7. Track maintain and report quality measurable KPI’s. Perform specific analysis of potential quality problem causing conditions, recommending improvements.
8. Coordinate with suppliers to ensure the quality of incoming materials and to implement corrective actions for non-conforming materials.
9. Recommend and coordinate appropriate corrective action to solve quality problems working in conjunction with manufacturing, engineering, materials, and other relevant departments.
10. Investigate and resolve customer complaints; participate in customer visits and audits.
11. Provide recommendation for field failure, product disposition and related problem resolution.
12. Review and develop all documentation related to product quality, such as test data, quality system procedures, cost of quality reports, etc.
13. Counsel plant personnel on acceptable quality conditions regarding customers and products.
14. Support the product design process with the applicable tools, meetings and techniques that are inherent in the job skills requirements for this job.
15. Monitor and provide input on open CAR’s and close out when appropriate.
16. Perform special projects as assigned.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in quality management, Engineering, or a related field or 10 years prior experience working as a quality supervisor/manager.
Certification: Not required but prefer someone with CQE (Certified Quality Engineer) or other relevant quality certifications (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing).
