IT Quality Assurance Engineer

Anticipated Starting Salary Range: $75,000 – $95,000

Starting Salary Commensurate with Qualifications and Experience

The State Corporation Commission’s (SCC) Information Technology Division (ITD) is seeking an IT Quality Assurance Engineer interested in a rewarding public service career. This position will perform day to day operational testing, which will include web-based application testing, system and integration testing, ad-hoc testing, and exploratory testing. The IT Quality Assurance Engineer will develop test plans, test scenarios, and test cases for web-based applications and infrastructure. This position will also perform gap analysis between the requirements and the test cases and will execute the test cases accordingly. The selected candidate for this position will develop user acceptance tests representing the appropriate test scenarios and level of detail for business users. This position will build the Test Automation Framework from scratch with C# and will maintain the automation test suites. The IT Quality Assurance Engineer will also be responsible for: performing functional testing, integration testing, and end to end testing; identifying and tracking bugs; communicating results from testing for the development team and business area to replicate; and scheduling and facilitating user acceptance testing activities. Ad-hoc testing will be performed in accordance with industry standards and best practices in application design. This position offers a hybrid work schedule (generally 2 days of telework, 3 days in office each week) as well as training and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

Preferred qualifications for this position include professional experience in automating web-based and infrastructure applications. A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is preferred but not required. Experience building the Test Automation Framework with C# is preferred. Strong documentation skills are critical for success. Candidates must have strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate technical matters to non-technical business users. The ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and establish and maintain effective working relationships with SCC staff is essential. The ability to test applications with no requirements and create test cases based on ad-hoc testing and user manuals is required. Thorough knowledge in the use of a personal computer, including Microsoft Office365 and .Net applications is essential. Ideal candidates will have expertise in the use of Visual Studio Test edition with Selenium C# and/or with Microsoft Test Automation tools such as Azure Test Plans, Team Foundation Server, Playwright, or similar test automation tool experience. Any knowledge of or experience with Oracle forms and/or SharePoint is a plus.
