We are seeking a hands-on, open-minded, and highly motivated Food Safety & Quality Manager to join our growing team. This is a new position within the company and provides an opportunity for the right individual to help build, develop, and continuously improve Sky Nutro’s food safety and quality program. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working directly on the production floor, training employees, conducting audits and inspections, identifying opportunities for improvement, and partnering closely with production and leadership.

Position Summary
The Food Safety & Quality Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, maintaining, and continuously improving Sky Nutro’s food safety and quality systems. This is a highly hands-on role. The individual will spend significant time on the production floor working directly with employees and production leadership to ensure food safety, GMP SQF, quality, hygiene, documentation, and company standards are understood and consistently followed.
As this is a newly created position, the Food Safety & Quality Manager will have an important role in building structure, establishing processes, developing training, creating documentation, and strengthening the company’s overall food safety and quality culture.
Essential Responsibilities1. Build & Develop the Food Safety & Quality Program
- Take ownership of developing and strengthening Sky Nutro’s food safety and quality program.
- Review current practices and identify gaps, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Develop and maintain food safety, GMP/SQF, quality, hygiene, inspection, and documentation procedures.
- Help establish practical processes that can be consistently followed by production employees.
- Partner with the COO and Production Manager to implement improvements.
- Stay informed about applicable food safety, GMP/SQF, and regulatory requirements relevant to operations.
2. Food Safety, GMP/SQF & Employee Compliance
- Monitor compliance with established food safety, GMP/SQF, hygiene, and quality requirements.
- Conduct routine inspections of production areas, equipment, employee practices, and processes.
- Identify potential food safety risks and communicate concerns promptly.
- Provide hands-on guidance and training to employees regarding food safety and GMP/SQF requirements.
- Follow up with employees and supervisors to ensure training is being applied correctly.
- Adhere to both state and federal food regulations
- Maintain appropriate training documentation.
3. Audits & Inspections
- Plan and conduct routine internal food safety, GMP/SQF, hygiene, and quality audits.
- Prepare the facility and documentation for customer, regulatory, and third-party audits.
- Serve as a key company contact for food safety and quality matters during external audits.
- Document audit findings and identify corrective actions.
- Track corrective actions through completion and verify their effectiveness.
4. Product Quality & Sensory Analysis
- Establish and maintain quality standards for gummy products.
- Conduct sensory evaluations (appearance, color, aroma, flavor, texture, etc.) as part of the quality process.
- Compare finished products against established specifications and quality expectations.
- Identify changes or inconsistencies between production batches and investigate potential causes.
5. Quality Control & Production Floor Support
- Conduct regular walks of the production floor throughout the day to observe processes.
- Monitor product quality throughout the manufacturing process.
- Identify quality or food safety issues before they affect finished products.
- Partner with the Production Manager to resolve quality concerns while minimizing unnecessary disruption.
6. Hygiene & Cleaning Verification
- Monitor and verify compliance with established cleaning and hygiene procedures.
- Conduct routine inspections of production areas and equipment.
- Identify deficiencies that may affect food safety or product quality and ensure they are addressed.
- Note: This position provides oversight/verification and is not intended for routine janitorial duties.
Qualifications:
Required
- Previous experience in food manufacturing, food safety, quality assurance, or a related field.
- Experience conducting internal audits, inspections, or food safety/quality assessments.
- Working knowledge of GMP/SQF and food safety principles.
- Experience developing or delivering employee training.
- Strong documentation, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work directly with production employees and leadership in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred
- Experience in gummy, confectionery, dietary supplement, or similar manufacturing.
- HACCP training or certification.
- Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) training.
- Experience with third-party or regulatory audits.
- Experience conducting sensory analysis of food products.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- This is an on-site position in a food manufacturing environment.
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods and move throughout the manufacturing facility.
- Frequent bending, reaching, and use of hands for inspections and sampling.
- Occasional lifting or moving of materials within established safety guidelines.
- Exposure to normal manufacturing noise and food-processing ingredients.
- Required to wear PPE and follow all safety and hygiene protocols.

Pay: $80,000.00 – $120,000.00 per year
