Position Overview
The Food Safety Technician is responsible for supporting food safety and quality assurance programs in the food and beverage warehouse facility. This role generally involves monitoring compliance with food safety standards, conducting inspections, and monitoring the implementation of corrective actions to ensure the safety and quality of food products.

Reports to the SQF Practitioner
Key Responsibilities
Conduct routine inspections to ensure compliance with the SQF Food Safety Code, food and beverage regulations, customer requirements and other relevant company standards.
Verify the monitoring of critical control points (CCPs) and verify compliance with Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) plans.
Assist with the effective implementation of Good Storage and Distribution Practices (GSDP) throughout the facility.
Conduct verification and validation activities for HACCP, SQF and GSDP, as assigned.
Support the development, training and maintenance of food safety programs, including GSDP, HACCP and SQF.
Assist with the investigation of quality or food safety non-conformances, root cause analysis and corrective action implementation for non-conformances.
Maintain accurate and organized records of quality control and food safety activities.
Assist in updating and maintaining food safety and quality assurance documentation.
Support internal and external audits by assisting with audit execution and report preparation, as required.
Any other tasks assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
Education and Experience
Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Food Science, Food Safety, Food Technology, or a related field of science.
Minimum of 1 year of experience in a food processing or food warehouse facility.
Knowledge and Technical Skills
Strong understanding of food safety regulations e.g. Chemistry Food and Drugs (T&T), CODEX, CARICOM, FDA, USDA and food safety management systems e.g., HACCP, GMP, GSDP, SQF, FSSC
22000.
Evidence of HACCP, GSDP and/or SQF training and/or experience will be considered an asset.
Experience in food safety auditing and inspections will be considered an asset.
Proficiency in conducting literature surveys and record keeping.

The position will require working in cold conditions typical of food and beverage warehouse facilities with cold storage areas.
