We are currently looking for people in Iceland to participate in a paid remote research study focused on identity verification technology and NFC-enabled National ID cards.
The purpose of this study is to help evaluate how digital identity verification systems interact with official Iceland-issued identification documents. Insights from participants help improve the security, accessibility, and reliability of digital onboarding experiences used by online platforms and financial services.
This is a legitimate research project. You will never be asked to purchase anything or make a payment. Participants will be compensated for their time and feedback.
Requirements
- You must be at least 18 years old
- Availability to complete the study in the upcoming weeks
- Valid, non-expired Iceland-issued National ID card with NFC chip. (An NFC chip is the small contactless chip inside some ID cards that allows them to be scanned using a smartphone)
- Have an iPhone or Android phone that supports NFC scanning (If you can use contactless payments such as Apple Pay or Google Pay on your device, it likely supports NFC)
- A second mobile phone or tablet capable of recording video
- Comfortable following instructions provided in English
Privacy & Data Protection
We understand that identity verification studies involve sensitive information. All data is processed securely and only for the purposes of testing and research. Participants will receive detailed instructions before beginning, and personal information is retained only as required for testing and legal compliance before being securely deleted or anonymized.
For this study, you may be asked to capture your National ID card during the verification process. Personal information shown in videos or screenshots may be blurred when applicable.
What does testing look like?
- You'll complete a simple identity verification process using your own Iceland-issued National ID card
- You'll scan your ID card using your iPhone or Android device
- You'll use a second phone or tablet to record the scanning process
- You'll upload the recording and answer a few short questions about your experience
- The entire process typically takes 45-60 minutes to complete
Many digital services, including banking, fintech, and online platforms, rely on identity verification technology to securely onboard users. This study helps evaluate how well these systems interact with official identity documents and NFC technology.
Compensation
- $18 USD per hour for your time
- Additional $80 USD completion bonus upon successful completion of all study requirements
- Estimated duration: 45-60 minutes
