Perm – Laboratory – Med Lab Tech (MLT) (Days) Robbinsdale, MN

Shift Notes: M-F between the hours of 7am-5pm

Weekend Requirements: No Weekend Requirements

On Call Requirements: No On Call

As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will be responsible for the collection and processing of customer specimens and the performance and evaluation of a range of clinical laboratory tests to assist in the diagnosis and monitoring of customer treatment. Customers may include infants, children, adolescents, adults and geriatrics.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Collects and processes lab specimens using universal precautions and safety protocols.
Responds appropriately to individual customer needs.
Troubleshoots specimen and test order issues; applies and documents corrective actions.
Enters and manages specimen data using computer systems.
Prepares and ships samples to reference laboratories.
Maintains adequate stock of lab supplies through ordering and rotation.
Conducts waived and moderately complex lab tests per policy for diagnostic purposes.
Identifies and resolves testing errors, documents findings and actions.
Assesses test results in the context of patient-specific factors (age, diagnosis, treatments).
Validates, documents, and reports test results per standard procedures.
Performs and documents instrument maintenance per regulatory standards.
Conducts quality control checks and ensures results are acceptable before releasing data.
Troubleshoots equipment issues and contacts service support when needed.
Completes annual competency evaluations and quality assessments.
Helps maintain cleanliness and organization of the lab environment.
Takes on additional duties to support organizational goals.
Follows corporate code of conduct and compliance standards.
Protects patient and employee privacy; only accesses information necessary for job tasks.
Reports concerns or violations through appropriate channels.

Submission Requirements
Education

High School diploma or equivalent (GED) – Required
Associate degree in Medical Technology or Laboratory Science from an accredited institution – Required

Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

1 year of clinical lab experience – Required
Knowledge of universal infection and prevention protocol and standard safety practices and procedures.
Skill in operating standard laboratory equipment.
Ability to evaluate laboratory test results.

Licensure/Certification(s) Preferred

ASCPA/NCA certification – Required
