The general supervisor must qualify as testing personnel and possess the minimum of a:
Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology with at least one year of training and/or experience in high complexity testing and certification (ex: ASCP MB).
Must be knowledgeable in infectious disease PCR testing using the following instruments: quant studio 12k flex, accufill, and king fisher.
Must have at least 3 years of laboratory supervision experience.
Technical
Competencies:
Able to initiate, validate and write Standard Operating Procedures.
Reviews all QC and QA test reports monthly.
Reviews documentation of critical incidents related to testing procedures.
Reviews test results from the tests performed as a part of the competency assessment and resolves technical problems with remedial actions if necessary.
Ensures that patient results are not reported until all corrective action has been taken whenever test systems deviate from the labs from the performance specifications.
Knowledgeable of appropriate use and disposal of chemicals used in the preparation of chemicals and testing of samples.
Ensures that policies and procedures are established for monitoring individuals who conduct all phases of testing to verify that they maintain competency to process, perform testing and report results promptly and proficiently identifying needs for remedial actions or training.
Demonstrates proficiency in recognizing potential chemical safety hazards.
Responds to written or oral questions related to the procedures and, if applicable to the individual’s responsibilities.
Is able to assess the performance of calibrations and review records pertaining to Quality control and instrument maintenance.
Familiar with testing menu and needs of the physician.
Responsible for terminating testing in cases where there is consistent non-compliance with rules or substandard performance.
Understands procedures concerning problem resolutions.
Demonstrates the ability to review and result proficiency tests and methodology with follow-up.
Responsible for ensuring that all testing including proficiency testing, is instituted and conducted in a manner that complies with all rules and regulations.
