Role Description
The Head of QA Automation / Testing Strategy Director is responsible for leading enterprise quality assurance strategies, test automation initiatives, and software testing governance to ensure high-quality digital products, operational reliability, and scalable engineering performance. This executive leadership role focuses on QA transformation, automation frameworks, testing methodologies, release governance, and engineering excellence while supporting product innovation and business growth.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and executing enterprise QA strategies, automation roadmaps, and testing governance frameworks aligned with organizational objectives
- Leading software testing operations including automated testing, performance testing, regression testing, security testing, and quality validation initiatives
- Monitoring QA KPIs, defect trends, release quality metrics, automation coverage indicators, and operational reliability outcomes
- Collaborating with engineering, DevOps, product management, cybersecurity, operations, and executive leadership teams on quality assurance initiatives
- Managing enterprise test automation frameworks, CI/CD integration, quality engineering pipelines, and operational testing environments
- Conducting risk assessments, quality evaluations, and root cause analysis to identify product reliability improvements and operational optimization opportunities
- Preparing executive QA reports, testing analysis, and strategic recommendations for leadership and board review
- Driving process improvement, testing automation modernization, and operational scalability initiatives across engineering and QA functions
- Managing QA tools, performance testing platforms, bug tracking systems, and operational reporting dashboards
- Supporting release management, DevSecOps integration, compliance testing, and enterprise digital transformation initiatives
- Leading workforce capability development, QA engineering standards, and cross-functional quality alignment activities
- Staying updated on AI-driven testing technologies, cloud-native QA practices, automation frameworks, and software quality engineering trends
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field
- Certifications in QA automation, Agile, Scrum, DevOps, ISTQB, Selenium, or equivalent are highly advantageous
- 8–15 years of experience in QA engineering, software testing, automation leadership, or quality assurance management roles
- Strong understanding of test automation frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, software development lifecycle (SDLC), and quality governance methodologies
- Experience leading enterprise QA transformation programs, automation strategy initiatives, and large-scale testing operations
- Familiarity with Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, JMeter, Postman, Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, Kubernetes, cloud platforms, and reporting tools is advantageous
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and strategic problem-solving skills
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities
- Ability to manage multiple enterprise engineering priorities and quality transformation initiatives effectively
- Experience in SaaS, fintech, healthcare, e-commerce, telecommunications, gaming, logistics, or multinational technology environments is an advantage
