Position overview:
The head of Test Engineering, will lead the test engineering department and be responsible for the strategic direction, design, and execution of the company’s test engineering activities.
You will oversee the entire testing lifecycle, collaborate with cross-functional teams and drive innovation within the testing organization. As a key member of the Leadership team, you will ensure the seamless integration of testing efforts across the product development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
Work together with the Leadership team to ensure effective coordination of the company’s activities to support our overall business goals.
Recruit, lead, manage and scale a team of test engineers (including trainees), providing mentorship, coaching and career development opportunities to ensure high performance.
Establish clear, measurable test engineering goals and KPIs to ensure consistent product quality and on-time delivery.
Together with the Sales and HR team plan, allocate and forecast personnel capacity.
Ensure that testing efforts address user experience, performance and security requirements to meet or exceed customer expectations.
Manage the consultancy group budget including salaries, learning and development, team building activities, etc., within the agreed set limits.
Foster an environment of continuous feedback and communication, ensuring that quality concerns are addressed proactively and efficiently.
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor or University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or a related field.
Proven experience in software test engineering and a management position as a Head of Test Engineering, Test Manager or similar.
Consultancy background is a huge advantage.
Extensive experience in both manual and automated testing practices particularly in software development environments.
Proven track record in leading teams in an international environment, including remote work.
Exceptional leadership, communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across teams and influence change.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on improving testing processes.
Advantage knowledge of testing tools, automation frameworks and software development cycles.
Experience in managing and prioritizing multiple projects and initiatives while balancing competing demands.
This role oversees the daily running of the consultancy division of spriteCloud which consists of:
Direct reports: Field Managers/Account Managers & Senior consultants
Reporting line: You report to the Managing Director & you will be part of the Leadership team
Size of team: Division consists of: 40+ Test Engineers and growing
Location: HQ Amsterdam, remote team in Barcelona
Hours: 40 hs/week
