Help Wanted – AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
We are currently seeking an experienced and reliable AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to join our team. This is a great opportunity for a detail-oriented professional looking to work with a growing company involved in structural steel, pipe fabrication, and industrial welding projects.
Responsibilities:
· Perform visual inspections and non-destructive testing of welds per AWS D1.1 and other applicable codes.
· Review and verify welder qualifications and welding procedures.
· Maintain accurate inspection records and generate detailed reports.
· Work closely with fabricators, welders, and project managers to ensure compliance with welding standards.
· Perform fit-up inspections and final welding inspections.
· Monitor weld repairs and verify corrective actions.
· Create WPS and associated documentation including qualifying welders, processes, procedures, best practices, etc
· Conduct quality audits to assess compliance with established standards and procedures.
· Utilize precision measuring instruments, including micrometers and calipers, to perform detailed inspections of products.
· Analyze inspection data to identify trends, defects, and areas for improvement.
· Implement and maintain QA/QC protocols throughout the production process.
· Document inspection results and prepare reports for management review.
· Collaborate with production teams to address quality issues and implement corrective actions.
· Assist in the development and refinement of quality control processes and systems.
Requirements:
· Active AWS CWI Certification required.
· Minimum 2 years of welding inspection experience.
· Strong knowledge of AWS, ASME, EN, DIN, ISO and API codes.
· Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills.
· Ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding symbols.
· Strong communication and organizational skills.
· Experience with structural steel, piping, or industrial fabrication is a plus.
· Strong understanding of quality inspection methodologies and practices.
· Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and calipers.
· Experience with quality audits and familiarity with QA/QC standards.
· Ability to analyze data effectively to drive improvements in quality systems.
· Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
· Excellent communication skills for collaboration across departments.
Preferred Skills:
· NDT certifications (MT, PT, UT, RT) a plus.
· Familiarity with inspection software or digital reporting tools.
· Knowledge of shop and field welding environments.
