About the Role

The HVAC Quality Control Technician serves as the final line of defense before a job is considered complete. Your responsibility is to ensure every installation meets ASTAR’s standards for quality, safety, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

You’ll perform detailed quality inspections, resolve warranty concerns, identify workmanship issues, and provide coaching opportunities that help our entire team improve.

Your goal is simple:

Deliver every customer the confidence that their HVAC system was installed correctly the first time.

Primary ResponsibilitiesQuality Control

  • Perform comprehensive quality inspections on completed HVAC installations
  • Verify installations meet manufacturer specifications, local code requirements, and Astar quality standards
  • Inspect workmanship, equipment operation, airflow, refrigerant performance, drainage, electrical connections, and overall system performance
  • Identify deficiencies and document corrective actions
  • Ensure every system is operating safely and efficiently before final approval

Warranty & Diagnostics

  • Respond to warranty calls and determine root causes
  • Troubleshoot heating and cooling system issues
  • Diagnose electrical and mechanical failures
  • Repair HVAC components as necessary
  • Resolve customer concerns professionally and efficiently

System Performance

  • Verify proper airflow, static pressure, temperature split, refrigerant charge, and equipment performance
  • Troubleshoot gas furnaces, electric heating systems, and heat pumps
  • Correct condensation and drainage issues
  • Confirm systems are operating at peak efficiency

Documentation & Communication

  • Complete detailed inspection reports
  • Document quality concerns and recommendations
  • Submit parts and equipment requests when necessary
  • Communicate findings clearly with installation managers and technicians
  • Educate homeowners on system operation when appropriate

✅ Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • At least 5+ years of Residential HVAC Service experience
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
  • Extensive knowledge of HVAC installation best practices
  • Experience servicing gas furnaces, electric heating systems, and heat pumps (Required)
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams, installation manuals, and technical documents
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Professional appearance and positive attitude
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions

Requirements

  • EPA Universal Certification
  • Current Texas TDLR Registration
  • Valid Driver’s License with an insurable driving record
  • Pass background screening
  • Ability to lift equipment and work in various weather conditions
  • Monday–Friday schedule with rotating on-call responsibilities

Pay: $50,000.00 – $65,000.00 per year
